London hosts the world's largest New Years Day Parade each year

In recent years, marching bands from some of the high schools in Lincoln, Nebraska have been invited to participate.  In the 2009-2010 school year, Lincoln Southwest High School is anticipating that they'll be participating in the parade (at least that's what I've been told by the band director).  That is my daughter's senior year, which means she will be traveling to London, England.  Needless to say, its expensive to send an entire marching band, their instruments, and their parents on such a trip.  Fortunately, we had an idea that she might be going on such a trip as the Lincoln Southwest Band went during her 8th grade year, and the schools tend to go every 4 years (so each student gets a chance to go once).

The picture is of this year's marching band taking the field before a performance, and she is a sophomore.  So I have about 2 years to save up the funds needed for the trip - and hopefully have enough so I can go with her.

So we're saving up the money early for this big trip.  I know that for the school from Lincoln going this year, the cost is about $2400 per person.  It'll be going up in two years I'd guess.  So, I'm starting this lens to talk about the Lincoln Southwest marching band attending the London New Years Day Parade, and London in general as a way to help provide some extra funds.

ALL REVENUES GENERATED BY THIS LENS will be deposited into my daughter's High School Trip savings account.  She's saving the money by putting aside a portion of her monthly allowance, and I put in a deposit based on her grades each term.  I'm not sure that will be enough - so I thought I'd try some alternative fund raising options available to me, like this lens.

How we're doing so far:

Each month I'll update the earnings on this lens, and total amount raised for her trip.

November 2008:

Total earned by my lens: $1.02

At $3000 a person, we've got a long way to go!

Another way you can help:

Would you be interested in contributing to her trip fund? I'd be very appreciative of any assistance we can get towards financing the trip. I've attached the Paypal button below to my Personal account, so I can't take Credit Card funded contributions, but any help we can get for her trip, would be very very much appreciated by us both.

If you're in the UK and plan on travelling abroad, here is a travel option to consider:
