The Best Indian Restaurant in Richmond: Aangan
Aangan, 5 Petersham Road, Richmond, TW10 6UH
An excellent location, backing onto the river in Richmond, at the bottom of Richmond Hill and just a short walk from Richmond Park it is at the quieter end of Richmond, the other end of town to the railway and tube station and a short distance away from most of the High Street shops (but near the boutique shops of Richmond Hill) although next to the fairly busy Petersham Road and next-door to the Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Chez Lindsay (an excellent French restaurant).
This is a fairly new restaurant and hasn't yet built up a strong following, so getting a table is usually easy, especially at lunch-time, when it is often virtually empty, which is a shame. This really is one of, if not the best, Indian restaurant in this part of West London. I hope they are able to get enough business to survive.
The food is excellent and very reasonably priced, considering the location: A selection of fairly typical, but well executed, UK-style Indian dishes and more interesting, perhaps more authentic or speciality dishes are available on the fairly short menu. Starters cost about £4.50 upwards and main courses from £5.50, with complimentary poppadoms. Wine by the glass is also inexpensive (from £3.50 for a 175ml glass)
The staff at Aangan restaurant are very friendly and accommodating and happy to make suggestions about their cuisine and in particular their less well known or unique speciality dishes.

- Hi Andy, how do you rate Swagat? I've colleagues who recommend it highly, although with our kids, we've found they don't have any high chairs and don't really cater to them.

- I was on a student tour when I visited London. All of these places were way out of our price range! I would love to go back and experience some of the restaurants you've shared here.
