Does the Kindle Work in London?
Yes! And no.
For the same reason, if you subscribe to newspapers or blogs on Kindle, they won't update again until you get back home. To prepare for your trip, though, you might want to subscribe to The Times
The Times
Amazon Price: $9.99 (as of 12/21/2009)![]()
"The Times is one of the world's leading newspapers respected internationally for its news, comment and analysis. The aim of The Times is to provide its readers with strong news reporting combined with thoughtful and insightful opinions on the main issues of the day. Whether dealing with politics, business, foreign affairs, the arts, or sport, The Times offers the most comprehensive coverage. It has an outstanding global network of reporters as well as must-read columnists such as Matthew Parris, Gerard Baker, Caitlin Moran, Giles Coren and Anatole Kaletsky."

Britannia in Brief: The Scoop on All Things British
Amazon Price: $10.20 (as of 12/21/2009)![]()
From the book's listing at Amazon.com:
Review
"A witty, irreverent crash course '101' that all Anglophiles will love. Leslie Banker and William Mullins have bridged the great divide between two countries separated by a common language. A bloody good read!"-Anita Naughton, author of Tea and Sympathy
"Britannia in Brief is an indispensable guide. Better than Fromer's, shorter than the Encyclopedia Britannica, it is hilarious, clever, and spot-on. This book is perfect for every foreigner who wishes to talk local, and for every local who doesn't get out enough."-Amanda Foreman, author of The Duchess
(Be sure to choose the Kindle edition.)

Getting Ready to Travel to London? Get your Kindle here!
If you don't have your Kindle wireless reader yet, read about both available models and order your Kindle here.
Kindle Comparison: The Kindle 2 is about the size of a Reader's Digest magazine with a 6" diagonal screen. The Kindle DX is bigger, just smaller than a typical 8 x 10 spiral notebook, with a 9.7" diagonal screen. Both are lightweight, well balanced and easy to handle.
The Kindle 2 fits in most purses and some pockets. The Kindle DX, obviously, requires a bigger purse or will slip easily into a briefcase or tote bag. Both are sturdy but should be carried in their cases (sold separately and available in a variety of colors and styles) for safekeeping. Which Kindle you use for your London travel guide is entirely up to you, just depending on your needs and personal preferences.
Kindle Wireless Reading Device (6" Display, U.S. Wireless)
Amazon Price: (as of 12/21/2009)![]()
Here's the Kindle 2, the smaller of the two Kindle choices. The Kindle 2 holds 1500 titles while the DX holds 3500. If you choose London travel guides that contain maps and lots of graphics, you might prefer to travel with the Kindle DX. See all the details and order the Kindle DX here.
Whichever Kindle you choose, we know you'll love your London travel guide, and the best part is that you can use your Kindle for all of your reading needs when you get back home!
