Longbourn Location Tours

Of all the places in the novel, it is Longbourn that is at the heart of Pride and Prejudice. So many scenes were filmed there that it had to be the first place the crew focused on finding.
Longbourn in the 1995 BBC version is in fact a small manor in Wiltshire. It was used for ten weeks in total.
We are also told (Chapter 5) that the nearest town to Longbourn is called "Meryton" "a small market town," but one which is sufficiently important to have once had a mayor, none other than Sir William Lucas himself, the Bennets' close neighbour. In the 1995 version, Lacock village near Luckington Court was used as Meryton. This is quite a star of the big and small screen, having been used for Moll Flanders, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) and Harry Potter to name but a few.
Other locations in the BBC Colin Firth production included: Belton House in Lincolnshire (Rosings), The Old Rectory in Leicestershire (Hunsford Parsonage) and Edgecote Hall (Netherfield).
In Pride and Prejudice (Chapter 3) we are told that the village of Longbourn is in the county of Hertfordshire . However,
Pemberley is described as being "neither formal, nor falsely adorned," and is meant to symbolize the character of Mr. Darcy.
The stately home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire , Chatsworth House, is mentioned in the novel and it is believed that Pemberley, the fictional residence of Mr Darcy, is based on the historic property.
Jane Austen's village of Lambton is widely believed to be based on 17th century Bakewell.
