Looking For Tattoo Designs

Welcome to my Tattoo designs page.

If you're looking for tattoo designs then you have come to the right place. I have been for more than 15 years of my life, literally obsessed with all the different types of tattoo designs there are and which one I should get. I mean, there are so many of them! There are literally 1000's to choose from but I heard all the horror stories from friends who decided to get one with no preparation and later regretted their choice. I mean apparently 25% of people who get their first tattoo design later regret their choice. Most people just have to live with the regret of having it done, but some people go as far as to actually have the tattoo removed by laser surgery. Ouch! Only thing with that is it means spending even more money we can't afford and it can leave very ugly looking scars.

When I first went into a tattoo parlor I felt like I was being rushed by all my friends to quickly choose any old tattoo from a small selection of tattoo designs on the wall and in some tiny booklet given to me before my friend's Dad came to pick us all up. Only thing is, there was nothing I really liked. Sure, some looked good, but I didn't feel it was "right" to just choose something on a whim as I knew if I was going to get it, I would later regret that choice for the rest of my life.

I thought the best thing would be to look for it online and see all the tattoo designs there are. Then take that to the shop and get just the right one I wanted. Only thing with that is there is so much rubbish out there. I mean, everywhere I looked I am being sold to. I was almost going to give up until I heard from someone that went to a particular website and LOVED their collection of tattoo designs. I mean, they said they had everything they wanted to see and made their decision based on knowing all the designs available.

Got to be honest, I thought no way am I paying for a collection of tattoo designs. They must be online somewhere for free. However, although I kept searching online and finding the same awful sales letters, same images of tattoos repeatedly used over and over again, I wanted something, fresh, something unique that I could call my own and that not all my friends had. Something kept niggling me about the tattoo site my friend told me about. Almost as if to say, give it a change and see what they got. I thought, blow it, I'm gonna join up and if its rubbish, I'll just get my money back. Trust me, I am REALLY fussy.

Well, let me say this. The website didn't win any awards from me for the first look of it, I couldn't actually see anything or get access to any tattoos at first, but boy is the tattoo collection they have crazy once I went into their members area. They have 1000's of every type of tattoo design you could imagine. From tribal tattoo designs, Celtic designs, star, butterfly, fairy, flower, dragonfly and heart tattoo designs to all types of Japanese, Chinese, Cross and Henna Tattoo designs. Check out their insanely huge collection here.

Many of my friends got their tattoos to show off and look cool but I had a deeper sense of purpose and wanted to get one very much for symbolic reasons of my inner feelings and personality. My values and what I care to stand for.

The true power of choosing a tattoo is that it represents your true self, and your higher values so it is very important to think carefully about choosing a tattoo design that speaks to you on a deep symbolic level.

Let me give you an example: some people choose the butterfly or little butterflies either on their lower back or on their ankle. To them this tattoo might show their love of nature and being free. It might show beauty, nature, rebirth and life. It might mean anything, but the thing to remember is to have it done for your reasons and NOT for someone else's.

Anyway, back to me. I went to the website, printed off all the ones I liked. Took forever! Shortened down my list to two or three and then after a week and a half made up my mind. Even though I knew I really loved it I wanted to think about it for another week so I knew it was the right decision. As soon as I felt ready, I become really excited. I then went to a tattooist I trusted and got it done.

(Btw, yes it DOES hurt. But not as much as you might think. It all really depends upon where on your body you are getting it done. My boyfriend laughed at me and said he didn't really feel much at all. He choose a really sexy tribal tattoo design to have on his arm.)

Tips for selecting the right Tattoo Design

So here you have my own step by step process of selecting the right tattoo design to make sure you have made the right decision so you get a tattoo you LOVE and dream about, not one that you later regret and cry about:

  1. Research a whole collection of tattoo designs and make a short list of 5 or so. My advice would be to check out this tattoo design website instead of spending countless hours, days or months searching yourself.
  2. Print off your 5 favourites and think about it for a few days, maybe take up to a week if you feel you need it. It's worth it and it's exactly what I done myself.
  3. Make sure it is a tattoo you can live with for life. Some people get their partners name tattooed on them but after a year together they break up. Not good!
  4. Once you feel completely happy with it, find out about all the tattoo parlors there are and find one which you trust and is recommended to you. Have a look online for local ones in your area that come recommended.
  5. Possibly consider getting some different henna tattoo designs first of the ones you like so you can try them out and see if its really you.
  6. Go for it!
  7. Show it off to all your friends!
  8. Don't go too crazy and do it all over your body since it can become very addicting…remember you got to live with it for the rest of your life.

So I guess by now your wondering what tattoo I got done  :-P

If you are still looking for tattoo designs then I REALLY recommend you check out this website here.
