Have you ever window shopped and then regretted not buying?

Ranked #6,233 in Squidoo Community, #404,945 overall

Ever wanted something and not bought it? Then regretted that decision . . . only not been able to reverse it?

How many times have you been on vacation, or been window shopping and seen something that catches your eye and you really like something but your inner self talks you out of it? But then a couple of days pass and you realize that it is still something that you really want, but it is too late and you can't go back and get it?

I have a blog site: brendayoungerman.blogspot.com and on Thursdays I write a prompt Pondering with a Purpose. I wrote one called Looks and Likes and I ruminated about things I looked at and liked, but I never went back and got. And here I am over twenty years later.... in some cases...and I still wish I had bought them. My Thursday posting is supposed to by a hop...which means other bloggers are to write a post as well and we all hop and read each others post. Instead of that happening, my very good friend Ruthi from abitosunshine posed a challenge - we were both going to create a lens about my post: http://brendayoungerman.blogspot.com/2011/05/pondering-with-purpose-looks-and-likes.html.

A Pelican with Red Shoes

I was 19 years old and I was a camp counselor. My parents came for the weekend and took me into Carmel and Monterey. Being a stupid teenager I had no idea what a great trip that was! We window shopped and I found a pelican with red tennis shoes in one of the stores. I fell in love instantly but of course I didn't buy it! When I realized that was the one item I really wanted, we tried to back track and find it..... but alas, it was not to be. Here I am 32 years later....still longing for that pelican with the red tennis shoes!

I am sure that is what started my love of anything pelican....At this point in my life my home is filled with pelican pictures and carvings...here is a small sampling.

I picked this up on our trip to Catalina

I fell in love with this print!

Beautiful!

Hand made woodwork

In 2008, coming back from Alaska, my children and I were in the Seattle/Tacoma airport for a three hour layover. At the time my children still enjoyed hanging out with me ---- ahhhh.....the good old days!

As we wandered through the airport we went into one of the stores and I found this absolutely amazing bench that was hand carved and on the two ends were brown bears. Now, mind you I fell in love at once and then started the "talking yourself out of it" routine.

Since that day I have wished that I had not talked myself out of it.....

Pratt's Carving Store and More

I found the bench! and so much more!

Now my wish list just got bigger!

Of course as soon as I found Pratt's website I found more things that I would love to have! Take a look for yourself! Here is their website:

Pelicans, a unique and delightful thing to collect, Brenda! As for the bench -- yes, I can surely see why you still wish you'd have bought it when you saw it.
