Thanks to a challenge posted here - SocialMarketing101 Blog that I found out about while browsing(lurking) here - warrior forum I find myself asking this -

Would it be more important to find success as an affiliate marketer, or win this inspirational contest I find myself being unexplainably drawn towards.

I decided that I couldnt actually win the contest without first becoming a succesful affiliate marketer. See, how can I write about something that i havent done?

With that in mind, I felt I needed to adapt the contest slightly, allbeit purely for my own personal needs but I'll definitely get more out of doing this if I turned -

"30 days to success on Squidoo" 

into "30 days to affiliate marketing success on Squidoo" 

I'll try and use Squidoo, use tricks and tips I pick up along the way, and try my damndest to become a successful affiliate marketer using Squidoo as my Primary publishing platform, in 30 days.

For 30 days, I'll update this lens, keep track of what I learned and put together from now until the end, and hopefully, on a Wing and a Prayer, I'll get there (and win the 30 day challenge of tiffany's too!)

Affiliate Marketing Success, where do I start?

What do I know about affiliate marketing?
Not much, not much at all.
Lets not speculate and hypothesize here, after all we are in the age of the internet, and I am damn sure I am not the first person to wonder, "What on earth actually IS Affiliate Marketing??"

Mr WikiPedia (maybe its miss??) has a detailed explanation here -

From that, I could write a Paper on the history of Affiliate Marketing lol!

In a nutshell then I could say this much;
Affiliate Marketing is the model used by Companies who want to increase their customer base, by rewarding Affiliates for refferals.

Where I need to start, is by answering these simple questions,

(At this point I'll establish I have already decided to become an affiliate for this project, and not become a merchant using affiliates to boost product sales!)

How do I choose a company to Affiliate myself with, to send my Referrals to?

Referrals, means traffic, people, eyeballs looking at the screen, so how do I even get that? (using Squidoo, but how exactly???hmm)

Then finally, as an affiliate, with traffic to refer, how do I know what will be the right way to monetise those referrals, how do I know if I'll be more sucessful (financially) by using the Pay-Per-Lead model, or the Pay-Per-Click model, or the Straight commission model?

With more questions than answers right now, I'll be spending a good bit of time over the next few days learning and researching before I actually get some solid progress done.

I dont expect to see results over night, or find a book to tell me the magic formula, I DO expect that a bit of due diligence and careful research will make this project a success, so I hope you'll enjoy my journey as much as I do, and do continue to follow me on this lens,

Next entry will start answering those first questions (need to find the answers first haha!)
