Teach The Lorax in Class
Growing up these days can be a challenge. Kids are constantly being bombarded with conflicting information day in and day out. They may over hear some news station express one thing about the environment on one day, and the very next day, they may hear some leader or authority figure say the exact opposite. So, with all this environmental confusion going on, perhaps it might be best to just place Dr. Suess' classic The Lorax, in their hands, and have them get their environmental education from none other than our bushy faced friend the Lorax.
Of course, sometimes the critical messages or lessons from books or activities can be easily lost without the appropriate instruction or guidance, especially in our youth in their highly distractible years . With the understanding of such learning hurdles, a set of lesson plans have been designed to assist teachers in developing the young minds of our future leaders, with the help of Dr. Suess. Thus, in this lens, you will learn about the Lorax and of one of the best ways to help students apply the wisdom that can be found within the Lorax book via The Lorax Lesson Plans.
I speak for the trees.
"I am the Lorax, I speak for the trees.
I speak for the trees, for the trees have no tongues,
And I'm asking you, sir, at the top of my lungs" -
"What's that THING you've made out of my Truffula tuft?"
The Lorax
The Lorax is a children's book written by Dr. Seuss and first published in 1971. The book details the crisis of the environment and the Lorax, who is the representative for the trees against the short-sighted greedy Once-ler.
The Lorax is commonly recognized as a fable concerning industrialized society and the danger it poses to nature, using the literary element of personification to give life to industry as the Once-ler (whose face is never shown in any of the story's illustrations or in the television special) and to the environment as the Lorax."
