A Variety of Lord of the Rings Dolls & Action Figures

Even before Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" movie trilogy came out, toy makers have been creating character dolls and action figures of J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved characters for years. However, with the advent of "The Lord of the Rings" movies, these dolls were brought to a whole new level by creating facial casts based upon the movie actors and actresses.

Many companies have issued The Lord of the Rings dolls and action figures, including Mattel, ToyBiz, Madame Alexander, Frnklin Mint, Dragon in Dreams and the Robert Tonner Doll Company. This lens is devoted to various "Lord of the Rings" dolls, action figures and collectibles. I will be adding more Lord of the Rings dolls and action figures as I discover them.

Strider the Ranger

Aragorn, son of Arathorn

Strider the Ranger by Robert Tonner

The promo photos of Strider do not do the doll justice, and I waited until after I purchased my Arwen doll to buy Strider. I was just as happy with the Strider doll as I was Arwen. Although his likeness is not quite as good a match to Viggo Mortensen as Arwen's is to Liv Tyler, it is still much better than the photos show, and is close enough to capture the character. His clothes are extremely well done and accessorized nicely! This is definitely a Lord of the Rings doll worth adding to any collection.

Arwen Evenstar

Daughter or Elrond, of the House of Rivendell

Arwen Evenstar by Robert Tonner

I was not impressed by photos of this doll, and I waited more than 1 year to finally order one. I was so happy I splurged and finally bought Arwen! From some angles she looks almost exactly like Arwen did in the movie. This doll is much prettier "in person" than her photos show. The dress is prettier than the photos show, too. with her hair down, the elf ears do not show at all, so as Liv Tyler, the Arwen doll is also good for redressing.

Galadriel

Galadriel by Robert Tonner

I wanted this doll from the moment I saw her, because unlike Arwen and Strider, Gladrien's promo photos do the doll justice. The is the doll that kept me coming back, checking on the Tonner Lord of the Rings dolls for over a year and ultimately deciding to buy them, because her picture captured the look and feel of Cate Blanchett as Galadriel.
