Lego Lord of the Rings Sets 2012

Lego have announced that we'll be getting a Lego Lord of the Rings range in 2012. Woohoo! Let's take a look at what we know about these Tolkein themed sets.

I first read the Lord of the Rings trilogy over the summer aged around 10 or 11 and was completely drawn in by it. I'm a bit of a Lego fan too. So the idea of being able to play out the great scenes from LOTR with Lego minifigures has a major appeal. Especially as I know have two young boys to introduce to Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf and the rest.

The first sets from the Lego Lord of the Rings theme are available in Summer 2012. Update: They're here!

Lego LOTR Sets 9469-9474

According to Wikia we will be treated to a range of classic scenes from the Lord of the Rings books. I guess some people will be more familiar with the movie adaptations.

The sets have now been previewed at toy fairs and will include:
Gandalf Arrives - Lego 9469
Attack on Weathertop - Lego 9472
The Orc Forge Lego 9476
The Mines of Moria - Lego 9473
The Battle of Helm's Deep - Lego 9474
Uruk-hai Army - Lego 9471
Shelob Attacks Lego 9470

I'm particularly looking forward to Gandalf Arrives. The scenes in Hobbiton are favorites of mine. And the Mines of Moria looks like an amazing set.
