First of all, you are to choose one of the four classes: Scout, Warrior, Mage or Archer. Every level you play has a set of objectives that you need to accomplish. You can have fun playing one of the heroes or villains (depending on the campaign you play) that you've seen from the film. They're more powerful than the standard classes but you have to be careful. Once their HP goes down to zero, you'll be stuck playing as one of the standard classes.

Though there are different classes and different heroes you can play with, you still get to smash the same buttons to attack. There are three face buttons that you can press to attack, with each having a different type of attack that makes use of magic and power-ups. There's a slight variation of attacks from one class to another, and even in heroes. Furthermore, graphics aren't all that great when fighting. In fact, you can find a few glitches, especially if there's smoke on the field. But you might find the game good if you're okay with repetitive game plays.

The best part of the LOTR: C is the visuals of all the environments. You can see that all of the environments look just like in the movie. You can recognize battles in each level as one of the famous battles in the movie. Furthermore, you can enjoy every moment of the game with the sounds.
