Starvation is NOT the way to Lose Pounds

Many people have said that mostly, magazines and shows only show people with good-looking figures and chiseled features serve no other purpose than to make people deemed as "lesser" feel bad about them selves. While these good looking personalities strut around for the public to see, making sure that their impressive figures (that do not need to lose pounds) and physiques are very visible, the rest of the population not gifted with such an impressive figure is left to "swim" in a collective pool of envy. This should not be the case, as for the most part, being overweight plays a huge part in severely bringing down the self-esteem of people, and while the solution may not be as simple for some people as it is for those with discipline, it is, at the very least, a well-defined goal, and one that is achieved with two simple words: lose pounds!
Some people, however, in the quest to lose pounds as quickly as possible, tend to practice unsafe, and sometimes even downright hazardous ways of losing weight. All that is paramount in their minds is that they must lose the maximum amount of weight that they can in shortest time that they can. As with everything that is hastened far beyond the point that it should be, this type of mentality will often result in a problem that is even greater than the one that these people began with. Virtually anyone can lose pounds if done properly and in a manner that is appropriate for the particular age, body type, and physical limitations of the person.
The most common, and often most hazardous method that people practice in their quest to lose pounds is the crash diet. These people regularly forego the intake of food and engage in their regular daily activities, burning off more than the safe amount of remaining body fat and calories without replenishing the nutrients that they have deprived themselves of. While it does produce the results that are desired, this practice most often results in other health-related dilemmas that is often just as bad, if not worse, than those that come about by being overweight. People who starve themselves run the risk of developing serious health complications, considering that serious cases of starvation, much like that of anorexia nervosa, affects virtually all organs of the body, including the heart. Adverse effects to the heart of starvation include very low heartbeat rate, irregular heartbeat rate, cardiac arrhythmia, and even death. Death rate for those with this type of serious fixation on starvation is quite high.
Crash diets and starvation really isn't the right way to lose pounds. Weight loss is a quantifiable process, and being such, monitoring progress through a carefully controlled process is the best way to go if what you really want to do is to lose pounds. First you need to determine the optimum weight that is best suited for your particular body type and age. Once this has been established, a nutritionist or professional health expert can determine and work out the proper distribution of your weight loss over an appropriate length of time such that can be handled by your system.
