Don't Drink and Diet.
There are so many people who'll deprive themselves of cheese and chocolate on a diet, but not cocktails. Remember that alcoholic drinks also have calories; sometimes more than junk food. You'll end up drinking quite a bit in the holiday season, so it's best to avoid alcohol in the weeks beforehand if you want to lose weight.

Go Green
It's proven that vegetarian food has lesser calories than meat and poultry. Add veggies to your food. Pack your subs and sandwiches with loads of crunchy lettuce, or munch on celery sticks (which, by the way, have zero calories - see my article on the zero calorie diet for more info). As far as possible, go on a vegetarian diet in the weeks before Christmas. Not only will this make the Christmas turkey taste so much tastier, you'll be able to enjoy it without any guilt.

Leave Behind Leftovers.
If you're a mother or housewife, you'll definitely need this tip, but many are tempted to finish up others' leftovers. If you want to lose weight - DON'T. Leftovers can wreck your diet. Try and cook as little as possible, and hand out small servings. If you must make use of leftovers, use them at the next meal. For example, left over veggies from last night's dinner can be added to an omelet to make a yummy frittata for breakfast the next day. Just don't eat when you don't want to, simply because you feel guilty of wasting food.
