My Rules To Lose Weight And Get Fit

These are rules I give to myself to help me keep on track and motivated.

Rule #1: You can weigh yourself on day 1, then give your weighing scales to a trusted friend who will only give them back to you after week 4
Rule #2: Stop telling yourself how out of shape/overweight blah blah and start focusing on getting in shape
Rule #3: Ensure you enjoy the journey
Rule #4: Don't beat yourself up if you slip, this is not a competition of who can get where the fastest, this is a lifestyle choice

First Step of My Journey To Losing Weight and Getting Fit

THE MANTRA

My MantraI have found in the past to start and succeed at anything you have got to want it enough. The hard reality is if you are just paying lip service to losing weight because you think it is what other people want to hear you will fail. It has to be a deep seated desire, and it has to come from you.

To start anything let yourself in on it. What I mean by this is you have to programme your mind out of it's default mechanisms and into your designed desire. Programme yourself to want to exercise, to eat healthier meals.

I gave myself a start date and two weeks before began using my mantra. I know that mantras' are thought of by some as stuff used by hippies, and the like. The fact is mantras are just a means to programme your mind and they have been used for hundreds of years for one simple reason. THEY WORK! So the basic outline of your mantra must be positive and has to be focused. To give you an idea mine is:

I am happy
I am healthy
I am filled with positive energy
I am fit and getting fitter
I will train daily
I eat healthy, nutritional food

What I would like you to note is the "now" -ness of it. I do not say I "will" be happy, or have any statement that refers to some time in the future. There is no point in programming yourself to start later as you are literally telling yourself that you will get fit at some other time rather than right here, right now. You have to tell your brain you are doing this in this moment.

Repeat your mantra every day as you wake up and before you go to sleep and as often as you care to in the interim. The more you train your mind to action the more likely you are to act.

As for myself, as I stated previously I set a date in my head when I would start, I gave myself two weeks to tell myself what my I was doing and would not allow myself to start anything before that date. By the time the day came I was really geared to go. I started by training, and have kept it up every day.

Don't put off till tomorrow what you can do today.

You ARE A Success

YOU ARE A SUCCESS

One point I would like to make, if you are going to do this, you are already succeeding.

If your desire is there and you are reading this, you are way ahead of the rest as you are seeking information that will help you on your journey.

If you are seeking the information then you are already programming your mind. If you are already programming your mind you are going to succeed in your desire to lose weight and get fit.

Chart Your Progress Of Weight loss and fitness gain!

One thing that keeps me on track is keeping a note of where I started. So, first off I weighed myself and wrote it down. 2nd I took a photograph of my self in my underwear front side and back WARNING This method effects different people in different ways. If you want to really want to change, and you are 100% ready for the journey and really want to SEE results I would say do it, but for some people this can be a kick in the wrong direction.

What I mean by this is that some people see themselves in their over weight, untoned state and kick out with thoughts of self hatred and then thinking the journey is too much.

Source: squidoo.com via Cathi on Pinterest

I would just like to say the journey isn't too much and you are as beautiful now as you will be when you are fitter and healthier, the only think you are changing is your body shape. The real you is not the outside shell, the real you is your personality, always remember that.

So, you either take the photo and run with it (not to the bin) or just jot down your measurements and weight. Put all this information in a safe place as you can then use it every 4 weeks to chart your progress.

Right, lets do it, lets lose weight and get fit

You ready?

If I Can do it, anyone can!Right, my progress so far is I have done my mantra, I am motivated and I have kept to my training regime and am using the15 Minute Workout #1 to start with and I have also got my rowing machine out to do some extra cardio (and purely for the fact I just love using it!).

I have also made a conscious decision to keep my diet 80% raw food. I will not be beating myself up if I slip every once in a while as hey, I am only human, but I am definite that I want to get fitter, and then, even fitter.

I honestly hope someone, anyone will join me and we can then work as a little team to boost each other as we go. I will update THIS lens from time to time with my progress and any other hints or tips I find useful along the way.

My next lens will be about weight training for women. I know this sounds a bit 'girls club' but it is not that way at all, it is to dispel a whole lot of things that women think when faced with the words weight training, that generally do not apply to men. So keep your eye out for that one.

Get Fit, Get Yourself A Soundtrack For Training

My Training Soundtrack

Another little FACT for you is that if you listen to the same tracks every time your train, after a few weeks just hearing the music alone will motivate you to get on and do!

These are tunes that are meant to get you in the mood to train and train hard so make sure they are pure pumping tunes, here are a few on mine and they really do work!

Water The Weight Loss Miracle

Did you know drinking water aids weight loss. One of the causes of getting overweight is extreme dehydration, lack of water and electrolytes due to over use of caffeine and/or alcohol. The reason dehydration makes someone over weight is when a person isn't getting enough water, the brain will make you crave food to get the water from the food.

So the more water you drink, the less you will crave food!

SIMPLE!

I Promised To Keep You Posted So Here Goes

Started giving 100% on 12th February 2012

A Promise I have made to myselfI have also started to clean up my diet big style, I am only on day 4 raw but this is going to be my kick start into detoxing my body. To really get it going my water consumption is nearly back to what it was when I was training before so between 3 - 6 litres a day.

To translate the chart below into how much energy I have actually used why not pop over to my website where I break all this sort of stuff down for you, don't worry, it is all free!

We don't have room for any exercise equipment, but we do have our Wii Fit. It's not as good when it comes to high level training, but any moving about and exercise will help to get the body into shape. Now that Spring is here we are looking forward to going out walking more, and there are some lovely places to walk within a handful of miles of where we live. Great information and tips, keep up the good work.

Great Lens! It was very informative and clear. Although Cheap weights can be hard to find, I did find a pretty good website that has cheap weights: http://www.cheapweights.org if anyone wants to check it out.

My Starter For 10

In the lenses listed below you will see one called the 15 minute workout #1. I cannot emphasis enough how brilliant this work out is. It works with stupefying results. There is no need to be even the slightest bit fit to start, all you have to have is 15 minutes, and if you are really out of shape 1 minute. I promise you it works, I know from experience! The best part is it is FREE. No equipment, no gym fees nil, nada, nothing, just you and a desire to succeed.

You will also see another lens on mind training this is the hows and whys on doing just that. I have also included a lens of fruit smoothies as they are a great way to fill a hungry tummy with the right stuff and not the stuff that got you and me over weight in the first place!
