Those muscles, called the hip flexor muscles, are the ones that are doing most of the work. As they are doing most of the work, how can it help you in developing your abs effectively?

So you might state, that from now on you will do crunches as an alternative. Well, you will find out another surprise. Most people execute their crunches incorrectly as well. Think about it. Why is this exercise known as the "crunch"? Because you must squeeze your abs that you are crunching them. In order to squeeze your abs hard, you need to curl up like a prawn and breath out all the air in your lungs at the top position, then squeeze the muscles so hard that you feel a burn. It will take a couple of seconds to crunch out all the air before you lower to the beginning position again. You can't do this effectively if you just go up, down, up down, up down rhythmically. So, if you have been exercising hundreds of crunches day-after-day with minimal or no result, now you know why. As a matter of fact, it is nearly unimaginable for an average guy to do tens of well performed crunches, not to say even hundreds of them. The same principle of squeezing goes for to other abs exercises.

Now that you know why your abs are not showing up as desired, get along with burning your fats and perform your workout in a proper form. You will then start seeing your six pack abs in no time.
