Three pounds may not seem like a lot of weight, but for many people losing just 3 pounds can make a pretty big improvement in the way they look. That's especially true if we're talking about losing 3 pounds of pure body fat!

Plus, for someone who's overweight and unhappy with their body, losing those initial 3-5 pounds is often just what they need to boost self-confidence and build the momentum they need to lose much more significant amounts of weight.

Below you'll find a simple method you can use to lose a few pounds quickly and safely. There's no starvation or "extreme" workouts involved. You can use this method anytime you need to lose pounds and inches in just a few days.

5 Steps to Lose 3 Pounds Fast... and Feel Great After! 

Want to lose three pounds fast while dramatically improving the way you feel at the same time? Just about anyone can lose a few pounds quickly and safely if they put their mind to it and make a focused effort. Follow the proven steps below and you could lose up to 3 pounds in a matter of days...

1. Get focused.  

There is one unbreakable rule of achieving fast success in anything: the more you focus on a goal, the sooner you'll achieve it. That rule definitely holds true when it comes to losing fat and inches. Create a simple, specific, short-term goal statement, write it on several index cards, keep one with you at all times, and read it several times each day. Something like: "I will lose 3 pounds of fat by March 15th by focusing my energy, eating a clean diet, and exercising properly".

Spend some time each day thinking about how great you'll look and feel after dropping pounds of ugly, stubborn body fat. Keep your goal in mind at all times and you'll automatically focus your energy and actions in a way that brings fast results. Trust me, this works... so don't skip it!

2. Do a fat loss jumpstart 

Jumpstart your fat loss by doing a 1 or 2 day raw juice fast. It's a simple, easy, and healthy way to lose a couple pounds while detoxifying your body and boosting your energy. Obviously, you'll need a good juicer for this step. Alternatively you could do a 1 day "lemon water" cleanse. This involves consuming nothing but pure spring water with fresh lemon or lime juice squeezed into it for a 24 hour period.

Even if you don't want to do a fast, consider making fresh, raw vegetable and fruit juice a regular part of your diet. Also, start off every day with a large glass of lemon water. It'll give you a big energy boost and make you feel great!

3. Cut the processed carbs 

Most people can lose 10 or 20 lbs within a month simply by cutting processed carbohydrates out of their diet. Avoid all refined sugars and flours, since they spike blood sugar and insulin levels... and completely stop your body's fat burning processes. You may even want to avoid whole grain products for the time being -- at least until you've lost those first 3 pounds of fat.

Focus on eating natural, high-fiber carbohydrates. The best choices are vegetables, raw fruits, beans, legumes, and carb-rich nuts such as almonds. A healthy meal should always include some raw or lightly cooked veggies, raw fruits, and/or a large serving of beans or legumes. The low-GI "good" carbs in these foods will keep your blood sugar and insulin levels stable, boost your energy, fill you up, prevent hunger, and provide lots of great health benefits!

4. Eat a clean, protein-rich diet.  

If you really want to lose 3 pounds fast, you'll need to eat a very clean diet based around natural foods. Almost all your calories should come from lean proteins, fish, eggs, vegetables and fruits, beans and legumes, nuts and seeds, with some healthy fats (e.g. olive oil, natural peanut butter, avocado, etc.) thrown in. Eat 4 to 5 small meals a day and make sure each one includes some lean protein.

Avoid processed foods and starchy carbs as much as possible. Definitely avoid all "white" carbs, especially white sugars, flours... but also white rice and white potatoes. Obviously avoid all fried foods as well. Each week allow yourself one "cheat" meal where you can eat anything you want.

Eating like this is a guaranteed way to lose several pounds in a matter of weeks or even days!

5. Do "short and smart" workouts. 

Forget about spending hours a day on a boring treadmill or elliptical machine. 5 days a week do a short (15 to 30 minutes), higher-intensity workout that includes both strength/weight training and cardio exercise. The best exercise for burning fat quickly is high-intensity interval training... aka HIIT. It involves doing short bursts of high-intensity activity (think sprinting or doing a set of pushups) followed by a period of active recovery (think jogging or light jump roping).

These kinds of short, intense workouts burn lots of calories and fat. They also force your body to produce powerful hormones (e.g. natural HGH) that will allow you to drop fat without losing muscle tissue... which will keep your metabolism boosted and make it easier to continue losing weight (or keep the weight off).
