Lose weight

Haven't tried it, but have limited it. I don't think I'd like the list we have to stick to, especially no bread or pizza.

Probably one of my favourite Lens’s

We're not on a wheat free diet, but I have tried to keep our carbs down. When we do that, both of us clearly lose that stinkin' belly fat - and quickly! Thanks for all the great information here!
  • melissiaoliver Jun 1, 2012 @ 7:09 am | delete
Really interesting and informative lens! One thing I would say though is that I don't think it's helpful to weight oneself every day when trying to lose weight, especially for women. We weigh different amounts at different times of the month due to water retention, plus if we're exercising a lot to lose weight, chances are we will put on muscle, which weighs more than fat. Once a week is probably all the time you need to spend on the scales - I prefer to use a tape measure to see where the weight is coming off from!
  • aj2008 Jun 1, 2012 @ 7:59 am | delete
Thanks, I am glad you found this page interesting :)

I can see why you would think weighing oneself every day may not be helpful but surveys about people who are successful in dieting have shown this to be one of the factors that contributed to their success. For me, if I have gained any weight, I find it useful to think what I ate the day before that may have contributed.

But yes, I agree that water retention and exercise may make it difficult to establish where you may have gone wrong and allowances would need to be made for that.

I think the main thing is that each one of us needs to find the method that works best for us as individuals.

  • lisakleinweber May 13, 2012 @ 1:18 pm | delete
I am not wheat-free, but I am on a strict low carb diet due to high blood pressure at my 10 week prenatal appointment (I'm 39, and I had high bp in my third trimester when I was pregnant 10 years ago too, so I knew I had to get drastic). The low carb diet brought it down within 3 days. Low carb does effectively cut out almost all wheat - but I have found a wonderful bread by julian's bakery that is only 1 carb a slice and tastes heavenly. So I do still eat some. I don't know if I have wheat issues or not - I think I just have sugar issues, cuz I feel really good when I do low carb.
  • glutenallergy May 8, 2012 @ 5:00 pm | delete
I am gluten-free (which is the elimination of wheat, plus a few more grains) because of health-related issues, and I'm pleased that one of the side effects I've experienced is weight loss. The lower intake of carbs is a good thing!

I thought I would miss bread and pasta, which I LOVE, but I haven't been craving them at all. Giving up cereal has been harder, but I've found ones that are gluten and wheat free.
  • amberchina May 13, 2012 @ 9:20 am | delete
I'm in the same boat! I've given up wheat and noticed not only that my bloated tummy is gone, I'm actually losing pounds that have been there for the last 5 years and I figured were there for good. I feel great, hope you do too! :)

I would love to give this diet a try but giving up pasta and pizza might be really difficult. I don't know if I could live without them. But I do need to keep the weight off since I was a chubby girl growing up.

Hi it very hard to not eat wheat but,I have stopped eating cereals,I love pasta but eat it only once in a while.I need to loose weight maybe this will help.
  • DailyRogue May 3, 2012 @ 4:49 pm | delete
I did not give up wheat but I drastically reduced it from my diet. I stopped eating breakfast cereals completely. I rarely eat sandwiches. I love pasta, but I just eat it as a side dish and not as a main course. Without making any other changes in my diet or activity level, I lost 12 pounds in one year.
  • miaponzo May 1, 2012 @ 1:28 am | delete

I suspect I should eliminate wheat from my diet because I felt much more energetic the ONE time I dieted using Atkins, but the idea intimidates me. I'll definitely use some of your suggestions to at least cut down, though (like using corn flakes in place of some of my breaded recipes.)

Nice lens! I think my first question is how did you cure your asthma? I have it bad and it's a pain to always take an inhaler. Next, a number of years ago I had gained a lot of weight but the nature of my job left me little time for exercise or even eating right. I purchased a book called "Protein Power," which basically took me off of all wheat products. I lost 40 pounds over a two month period and I have kept most of it off. No exercise involved. Your lens is interesting and well made. I really liked some of the recipes you listed and will have to try them. Thanks for your efforts.
  • Pastiche Feb 17, 2012 @ 7:28 pm | delete
When I was trim and fit I didn't give up wheat but I did eliminate most fats, all meats and alcohol from my diet plus I was at the gym for 2 hours every other day ... I was mid 40s then. I am thinking of returning to that regime unless I can eliminate wheat and get similar results. I need to lose 20 pounds to be back to my target weight and have the same energy levels.
  • Thrinsdream Feb 14, 2012 @ 4:24 pm | delete
I took wheat out of my diet a couple of years ago and my body thanks me every day. If I fall off the wagon and eat anything with wheat in, I know nearly instantly as I feel bloated and tired. Great lens. With thanks and appreciation. Cathi x

An interesting diet this. Does the weight creep back on when you start eating normally? I have tried the Atkins in the past and other than messing my insides up for a few years theweight slowly crept back on when I started eating normally again.
  • aj2008 Feb 9, 2012 @ 9:03 am | delete
Yes, if you start eating wheat again, the bloating and fatigue comes back - well it does in my case. So I am almost permanently "wheat free".
  • salud1111 Feb 5, 2012 @ 7:22 pm | delete
That is right it is very important to include fibre in your diet, great lens!

My daughter and I were both diagnosed hypothyroid a couple years back. The doctor suggested going gluten-free so we did. It was not an easy adjustment, but we stuck to it for about a month and lost weight and felt better. I was shocked at how many options are in restaurants, coffee shops, and prepared foods sections in the supermarket that are gluten-free.

  • KathyT Jan 19, 2012 @ 12:40 pm | delete
Great job on this! My only question is whether you are using the term "wheat free" to equal the term "Gluten-free..." I have really begun getting interested in this topic, and am beginning to see that it's not as difficult to adjust if we have some yummy stuff already in the house to help make the transition. :) The information presented makes a lot of sense! Blessed!
  • aj2008 Jan 20, 2012 @ 5:41 am | delete
No, Kathy, I am not using the term "wheat free" to include "gluten free". There's a lot of products that do not include wheat, but they do include gluten.

So, as you say, it is not too difficult to adjust to a wheat free diet, if you are not intending to exclude gluten.
  • KathyT Jan 20, 2012 @ 4:37 pm | delete
Thank you for that clarification! I really think this is doable - no... I actually KNOW this is doable. I've lined up a few things in the pantry to start an experiment on going without WHEAT for a while. Especially since the wheat in today's foods isn't anywhere near the original wheat from years ago. This will be interesting! Thanks again! :) Kath

Very good lens. I have recently ''gone Paleo'' which is a bit more extreme than told on this lens, giving up all grains, sugars and processed foods. I'm loving it, plenty of meat, fish, eggs and vegetables and the weight is dropping off me and I'm feeling great! Thanks for the info!

  • jimmyworldstar Dec 31, 2011 @ 3:55 pm | delete
I used to eat a lot of wheat products like pasta and bread and found myself more tired and gaining weight quicker. I think a lot of the issue is the modern processed varieties along with a general lack of exercise and eating a healthy amount of fruits and vegetables.

I don't do wheat free just enriched wheat. I do whole wheat or wheat free type stuff. Brown rice and all that. It works well for me. It's the sugar thing I guess. I think everyone has different needs and we just need to be open and try different things that work well for us. Glad this one works for you! Being aware and keeping fit is the best thing to do!

Wow! Thanks for all these resources. My husband reacts to gluten so we usually have a wheat-free household. A few slips here and there, I'm sorry to say, but he's lost 15 pounds since he started to be strict about avoidance.

I've eaten wheat-free for over 5 years, except that when my hubby makes homemade bread in our bread machine, I quickly decide whether I would rather be a little tired or have a small slice! I'm lucky that my main reaction to wheat is a little fatigue. Personally, I tend to go very light on any grains and find I really don't miss them.

If only I could say that about sweets!

I'm trying to stick to a wheat free diet as closely as I can. I treat myself once in awhile. I do feel better not eating much wheat and don't gain weight as easily as I did before.
  • aquarian_insight Oct 29, 2011 @ 7:02 pm | delete
A wheat free diet was suggested when I became ill. I have ME and over the length of around 8yrs put on lots and lots of weight. Finally, I went wheat and sugar free and lost 6 and a half stones (just over 90 pounds) over 2yrs. About half of that I lost without exercising at all because I was too ill to do any exercise. A wheat free diet is one of the things that helped me overcome and manage many of my symptoms. I must admit though that in the last year I have put on some of that weight. The reason? I moved in with my Italian boyfriend and just couldn't say no to pasta! But many of my symptoms have also gotten worse, so I'm going wheat free again! Thank you for this inspirational lens!

    Hi Aj2008

Thanks for the recipes. I would like to try it out too.

By weighing everyday, do you not think it can be demoralizing especially if the weighing scale didn't move a pound even after a week? Should weighing once a week be a better option?
  • aj2008 Oct 25, 2011 @ 12:17 pm | delete
Sam, I have to admit I was surprised when I read that weighing every day is one of the three things most successful dieters do, especially as some Diet Support Groups advocate only once a week. But I have to admit that even before I read it, I was already weighing myself most days and it has given me great insight into which foods tend to add the weight. And then I can compare my activity of the previous day too and make adjustments.

I am trying to go wheat free but it's hard!
Pringles has wheat starch in it!
Beef jerky has wheat AND soy!
Why is wheat in my beef?
  • aj2008 Oct 25, 2011 @ 12:19 pm | delete
Wheat in your beef? Now there's a puzzle!
  • Lifeboost Oct 25, 2011 @ 8:35 am | delete
My mum has been trying to convince me to go wheat free for ages, but I really haven't looked into it much. However, there's a lot of good information here, and I'm getting the impression it might not be as inconvenient as I'd thought :)
  • aj2008 Oct 25, 2011 @ 12:20 pm | delete
I have to admit I found it easier that I thought too, but sometimes, particularly when visiting other people it is very hard to avoid wheat altogether.
  • jpastor Oct 25, 2011 @ 12:11 am | delete
Wheat is really good for you especially for breakfast. I have added it to my daily meals and I feel much better.
  • aj2008 Oct 25, 2011 @ 4:40 am | delete
I have to disagree with you in that wheat is definitely not good for everyone! It certainly is not good for me and many other people I know.

I was able to tolerate wheat when I was younger and my intolerance developed as I got older. Some researchers believe it is because there is now too much wheat in our diets because producers consciously add it to foods, particularly pre-prepared foods, as a binding agent, thereby destroying the natural balance of foodstuffs we have if we eat foods that have not been processed.

Personally, I try to avoid wheat not for weight reason but because I realized that it is what triggers my eczema. In summer while camping, hiking and rock climbing I eat more bread than the rest of the year and my eczema comes back, every time. I should learn :) but a good baguette with cheese for picnic is hard to resist.

I know what you mean. I read an article by a British Doctor who often advises his patients to cut out processed bread from their diet and it helps reduce bloating etc. However, he has also reported that when some patients have visited France and eaten fresh baked bread, they get no symptoms.

My dad is allergic to wheat, so I grew up eating all sorts of "weird" grains...stuff like teff, quinoa, amaranth. Quinoa is a great choice as it's incredibly nutritious. Wheat is one of the higher grains in protein, so many people lose some protein when they switch to other grains...but quinoa is even higher than wheat in protein, and it also has a balance of essential amino acids closer to what the body needs. Teff is little-known, but it's what Ethiopians use to make their injera bread...a delicious, spongy bread that can be used to pick up food so you can eat without utensils...very fun to say the least! Avoiding wheat can be tough but it will open you up to so many great other options!

Interesting story and great advice. I agree that a wheat-free diet is the best option. It's incredible how wheat, gluten, and several other food allergies can have delayed symptoms. I can eat wheat bread today, and get a headache 2 days from now because of it. I've learned to avoid wheat and gluten. I read in another article recently that many people who have wheat/gluten allergy can tolerate sourdough bread as long as it's made with the slow process. I found that very interesting. Haven't had sourdough bread in a long time. Will try it soon.

What great info! I just remembered that a holistic doctor once tested me and said I should have a gluten free diet but I didn't make the effort to try it back then, then 2 years ago I decided to lower my carb intake and chose to eliminate all forms of bread (as I called them my trigger foods - once I would start eating them - that would be the end of any dietary changes!). I was still eating loads but lost 32 pounds over the course of 9 months...until one day I started eating bread (I was in a fancy restaurant and couldn't resist) and the weight started to creep back on. Well the penny has finally dropped - I NEED to go wheat free from now on...thank you...thank you

Hi AJ- Wow, you are quite prolific!
I've taken up an interest in going wheat/flour-free since I realized I was mildly wheat-intolerant (several years after my mom was diagnosed with Celiac's).
Thankfully, many items we associate with wheat (or gluten), like pasta, as you point out, and even pizza, can now be found gluten and therefore wheat-free.
Also, a lot of granolas use only oats as their main ingredient, so many brands (or homemade) can go on the All Clear list. Would love to know your thoughts on my page if you get a chance...many thanks! Look forward to reading some of your other pages soon...

Similiar to your experience, going wheat free is when I was finally able to lose the last bit of weght and keep it off after many years of yo-yo dieting.
  • prosperity66 Jul 8, 2011 @ 1:44 pm | delete
As a Latin mind and human being, I couldn't live without bread... Though, I don't eat that much bread or food that includes wheat: two slices "real" (not from the supermarket) bread in the morning, two slices at noon... My life wouldn't be the same without this indispensable element. Some revolutions were fought because bread was missing, so I think it's really entire part of humans nutritional diet.

Apart from that, the lens is well done, informative and well researched. One feels the personal investment... This is what makes it of a high value on Squidoo.

  • hysongdesigns Jun 6, 2011 @ 8:43 pm | delete
nice lens. I have to agree that we eat way too many 'empty calories' many of which come from white wheat flour stripped of all it's good nutrition and then of course there is the chemicals and now we (at least in the US) have to contend with unlabeled GMO's. I probably won't go totally wheat free, but eat only organic bread and pasta and eat whole brown rice a lot more often than I eat wheat.

i am looking more at cutting out wheat from my daily eating. It sure makes a huge difference when I do have wheat compared to when I dont eat meat. The tummy bloating, the burps and the sleeping behaviour plus not feeling well has lead me down a path to wheat free. Great lens.

    Dear AJ,
I just had the pleasure of meeting someone (new to me) on Squidoo who is a Squid Angel for gluten-free recipes and wild birds. I just let her know about this excellent lens of yours. Perhaps you already know her? http://www.squidoo.com/lensmasters/annmackiemiller

I am still reading some literature about the success of gluten-free diets (we had one ophthalmologist at our hospital who was able to order gluten-free pizza for our staff meetings). He swore that following these diets changed his life.

I shall be in touch as soon as I can put some credible information together to present along with your lens as a feature. Your personal experience (I feel) is far more effective than just showing a bunch of bar graphs and charts.
    Fondly,
    Rose

This is an excellent lens and one I must further explore in my other work. Celiac disease (aka Sprue) mimics much of this and also the correlation between genetically modified foods (esp. corn) and those with allergies/inflammation in the digestive tract. I can't help but also feel preserves and processing have contributed (as you have pointed out). I have read studies also linking peanut allergies being on the rise due to the fact that peanuts were one of the first genetically modified crops. And so, your reference to what Dr. Nick Avery was suggesting makes sense to me. I cannot quote absolutes because further replication (of the studies I have read) needs to be done (a meta-analysis). For now, these are strong hunches.
I love that you saw a homeopath, I have re-opened my eyes to this field and feel this will be (and has been) the best preventative method of treating people. You have also given due emphasis to the need to replace vital nutrients found commonly found in breads.
I really am inspired to look into this further AJ. I am lensrolling this to my Preventive Medicine IS underfunded - Why? lens and wish to feature it too - with your express permission first. Please let me know on my Bio page, no rush. Sincerely, Rose

I need to be on a high calorie diet, so wheat is a part of my daily diet. Being on the side of gaining and maintaining weight can be as difficult some times as trying to lose pounds.

I know though, that if a person wants to lose the tummy, cut out wheat. My mom used to limit my dad from bread when he would start to get a tummy, and it worked. Thing is, her homemade bread was always so darn good.
  • Allison_Whitehead Oct 15, 2010 @ 2:35 am | delete
Great lens! I don't agree with weighing yourself every day however, but that's just me. I know that wouldn't work for me. I would rather go on how I feel in my clothes - if I weigh myself and I haven't lost weight I get discouraged and I'm tempted to blow my good work by eating more!
  • Jimmie Oct 6, 2010 @ 9:42 pm | delete
I'm reading Good Calories, Bad Calories right now (on my Kindle!). It's fascinating. I love bread, and baking is my specialty. So going no-wheat makes me sad. Wondering what the difference between no/low carb and no-wheat.
5ft 5 is above average height? Hmmm.. I'm surprised at that.
  • aj2008 Oct 7, 2010 @ 2:59 am | delete
No wheat means you can have the carbs as long as theirs no wheat in it - bread, pasta are no nos, but potatoes, which have carbs, have no wheat.

Yep, last time I looked 5ft 5" is above average height for us Brits :) But given how tall my girls are already, I guess it is changing rapidly in the next generation!

I picked up some great tips from this site. The wheat free breakfast ideas my wife is now using every morning to good effect. Also the idea about exercise equipment in the home. I've put a punch bag in the cellar, with some hand small hand weights and a treadmill. 1/2 an hour of combined hard exercise using all 3 has helped us both lose leg fat and trimmed down other areas. Wheat free and exercise is working for both of us.

I wish I'd had this lens to read when my son started a wheat free diet whilst back living at home two years ago.We found our way round after a few months but as he'd been on a typical student diet of pasta , pizza and beer it took some doing! I don't think we realise how much wheat we consume until we try to cut it out of our diet. My son plays cricket and if we ever go and watch, I always groan at the amount of wheat products they serve up for tes - much of the time there's nothing I would normally eat.

I never would have though of some of the suggestions you mentioned for wheat replacements, like potato. I have it often, but never looked at a baked potato as a healthy pasta replacement. Thanks for making one of the truly useful dieting lenses on Squidoo - we need more of them!
  • aj2008 Sep 20, 2010 @ 3:23 am | delete
Thank you very much. What I also like about Baked Potatoes for lunch is that it is the slow release of carbohydrates that helps you avoid having sudden hunger pangs or craving in the afternoon.
  • WhiteOak50 Sep 10, 2010 @ 7:33 pm | delete
This my friend is a fantastic lens! You did a great job putting it together. For the first time the other day, I seen wheat free bread at my grocery store. But the sodium count was higher than I normally eat. I am a label reader and so many people would be surprise on the counts of certain ingredients. I am still tempted to try that bread though. Again, this is a very helpful, useful lens!
  • aj2008 Sep 20, 2010 @ 3:31 am | delete
One way to reduce your sodium intake is to stop adding it to food as you cook it. These days I never add salt to pasta or rice and my family never notice. Also the only time we put salt on the table as a condiment is when we have good old fashioned chips - you call them fries in the US.

really perfect work i wish i can learn what you do and applied to my lens
  • Zolan Jul 13, 2010 @ 5:29 am | delete
I completely agree with the fact that we eat why too much refined wheat, much like white rice, they're pretty much empty carbs with very high GI. However I do believe that eating wholemeal unrefined wheat is very much a good idea. You'll lose weight that way without losing a great source of fibre and minerals.
  • theraggededge May 21, 2010 @ 3:50 am | delete
Great resource. I 100% believe we all eat way too much wheat and far too many carbs. Unless you are a kid or an athlete, you just don't need them. After all carbs turn to sugar (glucose) and if unused, glucose is stored as body fat. Also... I have to say saturated fat receives a bad rap - it is not the terrible thing it is portrayed as.

Great lens - going to send it to my asthmatic, bread-addicted partner. And Happy Birthday! I leave you a Squid Angel, wheat-free blessing :-)

I'm not supposed to eat gluten or dairy (and don't for the most part). One thing to watch out for are baked goods made with alternative grains. For whatever reason, they usually have more calories than good ol' wheat. For folks who really want to lose weight, try cutting back on all grains (the Paleo Diet is a bit extreme but is very easy to lose weight with).
  • Evelyn_Saenz Oct 5, 2009 @ 10:03 pm | delete
I have also found that pasta makes me feel bloated so I have started eating Spaghetti Squash instead of noodles. That way I can still eat spaghetti without the wheat.

Always love your lenses and your encouraging messages.

    Thank you,

Great lens. I don't eat wheat - I started dropping things out of my diet because I felt ill a lot but it's hardly surprising considering the way food is grown/reared/processed. There's some stuff that I missed though so thanks for the information! I'm discovering that the only thing that I can eat and feel good with is salad!
  • bekat Aug 25, 2009 @ 2:47 pm | delete
Sometimes the simple things are the ones we overlook, I think paying attention to how much wheat you eat is one of them. I don't eat wheatfree, but I definitely don't eat it more than once a day. I make an effort to eat other grains in place of wheat as well. AJ, your readers might like to take a peek at my simple healthy diet tips as well. Always nice to find new ideas, great lens, AJ.

I love the way you share your personal life stories and am encouraged once again as I've gone back and forth on loosing weight--it sure does come back easy though. Perhaps wheat free will help me on my way. I know I already actually like Ezekial Bread. I have a sister-in-law who can't eat wheat at all over the past few years and she gets so frustrated at times--I'll share your information with her for the encouragements sake of it. We've only been eating it for 10,000 years, you say--it seems like a life time! Oh, for wheat free people--I shared some of Chefkeems Tres Leches Coconut Macaroons with my sister-in-law and she is wondering when I'll make the next batch. So many of our "goodies" have wheat. What am I thinking? Those macaroons still have a high calorie count!

Thx. I've learned that I may have celiac and must change my diet or else.

You are so right - wheat is unfortunately terribly bad for the thighs - but darn if it isn't just soooo good! You are a great inspiration and reminder that I do need to stay more away from it - but I also like the balanced diet idea of chocolate in both hands.... LOL! I am a vegan which is also a big help in the fight against the bulge and if I really could be good, I would also cut out wheat like you.
  • tcinvestor May 21, 2009 @ 9:37 pm | delete
I have been on a wheat free diet since my early twenties ( I'm 41 now). In the beginning it was difficult and not very enjoyable but now there are so many great products and recipies it is not really a problem at all. Sometimes the price of wheat free bread is a hassle but it is a sacrifice worth making. I was in the fitness business for 20 years and helped hundreds of people achieve weight loss, increase energy and reduce fatigue etc by getting them off of wheat and dairy products and have wrote about intolerance in my book Live Smart. Namaste muffin mix is the best wheat free muffin mix I have ever tried. I also love all Bob's Red Mill products. I am glad that more light is being shined on this issue as so many people have some level of intolerance to wheat and gluten and their lives are profoundly negatively affected because of it. Thanks again for the lens

wow, I have never gone into this that much, but you have me thinking. I live in a house with a family addicted to wheat, so I'll have to test the waters! My husband can eat bread three times a day 7 days a week and still feel he is not eating enough bread! I've been wondering about it for myself as I so obviously feel bloated after a meal with lots of eat. I have to admit for me the biggest problem would be couscous, I love it, it is practically a staple for me.

    thanks for the great info!

Hi. What an amazing lens. I too went on a similar "diet". Although I hate calling it a diet. It really is a lifestyle change for me. I had to eliminate sugar, flour and starches - except wheat germ. I lost 90 pounds in 6 months - that was in 1998 and I've kept it off ever since. It's true, some people are allergic to certain carbohydrates. I would set out to eat "a slice" of bread and I would eat the whole loaf. Same with sugar. I used to feel like a complete freak having to eliminate those substances from my diet but I'm so glad to have come across this lens. Also, the aesthetics are pleasing! Keep up the great lenses!

I'm wheat free because of a gluten intolernance. I love all things wheat...bread, pasta, etc. But I get severe stomache pains from eating anything with wheat gluten. I don't have celiac disease, but the discomfort is great. It's terrific to see a lens on wheat free eating since most people who suffer chronic indigestion never consider that wheat might be the cause.

I suffered until I was fifty when I mentioned to my doctor that since I went on a low carb diet (no bread or pasta) that my stomach pains had dissapeared. He said "Well, you must be gluten intolerant." I was stunned. After all the years of testing and probing...it was that simple and no one ever mentioned "gluten intolerant".

Now, if I stay away from wheat, I'm fine.

Excellent lens! My family went wheat free and gluten free as we discovered a variety of strange allergies. My daughter and I have 'brain allergies' and suffer from severe depression if we eat gluten, while my sons intolerance to gluten shows up as brown spots and crumbling teeth. You can read our story at Being Gluten Free and Allergic To Everything.
  • Ramkitten Feb 28, 2009 @ 11:52 pm | delete
Interesting stuff, AJ. I did have one thought about a substitute for pasta: spaghetti squash. We used that in place of real spaghetti when we "accidentally" grew too much of it and couldn't even give it all away. With tomato sauce and other traditional pasta toppings, it was really yummy, not to mention lower in calories.

I've personally never tried going wheat-free, but it might be an interesting "experiment" for a couple of weeks.

Yes, Janet I agree that there are various intolerances that can be related to weight gain and loss and everyone needs to be very careful about how they go about any diet. The suggestion that I cut out wheat was made by my Homeopathic Doctor, after she had properly assessed me.

As I say in the lens, anyone cutting out wheat needs to properly consider how they will replace the nutrients that wheat would normally provide in their diet and anyone who is already being treated for any medical conditions should consult their Doctor before making any changes to their normal diet.

Hi AJ - Greetings from another UK member who also has a passion for natural health and weight loss. I too have Janey Lee's book and find her very inspiring. I loved your lens and found it very informative for anyone who has a wheat intolerance and is desperate to lose weight. However it is my understanding that wheat is not the only intolerance that can cause problems with weight loss. It may be different foods for different people. The best way forward is always to have your intolerances checked out by a practitioner before embarking on a diet that may not be right for you.
