Exactly How To Get Rid Of Acne

This talks about my routine to get rid of acne and prevent it. Also how to have skin that feels so clean and pores that feel like they are shrinking as much as pores can shrink.

Here Is Exactly What I Do To Get Rid Of Acne

My Routine

Ok, I have tried pretty much every product there is for acne and skin care and I have found what works best and what feels best on my skin. With all the products out there it is so confusing trying to pick out what to buy, but I have found through experience what products work best.

Here are the exact products I use every day and what I did to prevent acne and make my skin feel good:

1. Clean and Clear Continuous Control Acne Face Wash: I have tried almost all, if not all the facial washes out there and this is the best face wash I have found. As far as I know it's the only one with benzoyl peroxide. I have tried neutrogena face washes, biore, noxema, off brands, and other clean and clear face washes but this is the one that works best and it makes my skin feel really clean and after I use it it's like I can feel my pores shrinking up.

2. Salicylic acid maximum strength: After washing my face I always take a cotton ball and rub maximum strength salicylic acid on my face. It also makes my skin feel really, really clean and pores tight. I buy the generic brand which is Equate at Wal Mart because it's cheaper than Clean and Clear. There are two strengths. One is blue and only has .5%. I have tried this and it's not strong enough. It doesn't give my face that tingly clean feeling. I always get the maximum strength which is 2%. For some people, it burns a little. But it's better to have a little burning for a few seconds than to have acne.

3. After the salicylic acid, I put benzoyl peroxide on my face. This is the stuff that makes acne go away and helps stop acne from coming. I buy the equate brand because it's much cheaper than the other brands, but with the exact same medicine-benzoyl peroxide. Clean and Clear makes something called Persogel, which is benzoyl peroxide, but it is all gooey and I hate it. It makes my skin feel greasy. I much prefer the equate brand because it's just white cream. It's not all gooey and greasy.

4. Wear Mineral Make-Up I switched to mineral make-up a few years ago and my skin has felt so much better. I will never go back to that greasy, yucky make-up ever again. Mineral make-up doesn't clog my pores and it feels so much better to wear. If you have acne and wear make-up, you must switch to mineral make-up.

So, from trial and error this routine is what makes my skin feel clean and tight, like I can feel my pores shrink all up, and prevents acne. I do this routine twice a day and sometimes in the middle of the day, if I am sweating or doing physical activity and need to freshen up and feel clean and tight skin.

More Preventing Acne Tips

Besides washing your face with the right stuff and applying the right medication on it, there's more stuff you need to do to prevent acne.

1- Make sure you have a clean scalp. Wash your hair regularly. People with dandruff and greasy scalps get more acne breakouts.

2- Try not to touch your face. This can be hard. I try to never touch my face with my hands, but sometimes I'm resting my chin or cheek on my hands and don't even realize it. It's no telling what microscopic stuff is on our hands and if we touch our face or if someone else does, we can get bacteria into our pores to cause acne. This doesn't mean every time you touch your face you will get a pimple. It's just safer to get in the habit of not putting your hands on your face.

3- Don't wear oil based make up. Don't wear that regular foundation. Switch to mineral make up. Mineral make up doesn't clog up your pores and it's much better for your skin. Oil based make up can clog up your skin and cause pimples. Throw out all regular make up and either wear mineral make up or make up specially designed for acne prone skin. Most mineral make-up isn't any more expensive than that regular make up that's bad for your skin. Sometimes it's cheaper. So make the switch if you haven't already for your pores sake.

You May Have Acne Genes

Some people are blessed with wonderful genes that give them great bodies or beautiful skin, while others have awful curses of genes that give us bad skin no matter how good we take care of it.

Acne can be passed to us in our genes. If your mother and father had acne, you will too, even if you take obsessive care of your face.

If you are one of the people who have "acne genes" you can't do anything to get rid of your bad genes unfortunately. All you can do is take measures to prevent acne and to fight the effects of the genes as best as you can.

Some people have oil glands that work overtime and produce way, way more oil than the average person. This leads to the face getting oily very easily. And that leads to more acne breakouts. You can thank your genes for this. You can't change your oil glands. You can just use the best oil fighting products out there (such as maximum strength salicylic acid) and wash your face with oil fighting acne cleansers regularly (at least twice a day) and not wear oil based make up. Wear mineral make up or make up specially designed for acne prone skin.

More Acne Tips

Differin
A very good acne medication is Differin, which is by prescription only. See your doctor to get a prescription. It works soooo much better than Retin A. Retin A was an awful experience for me and only made my face worse. I knew it could get worse before it got better so I stuck with it. Big mistake. The longer I was on it, the worse and worse and worse my face got. I wouldn't use that stuff again now for anything. Differin is the best prescription I have used.

Accutane
Accutane is supposed to be the strongest prescription out there for acne. It is only prescribed for severe acne. Females have to take pregnancy tests before they are prescribed Accutane because it causes severe birth defects if pregnant women take it.

Toothpaste
Putting toothpaste on pimples actually helps clear up acne as weird as it may sound.

WHAT YOU EAT DOES NOT GIVE YOU ACNE- There is a common myth going around that some people believe. Some people will tell you that what you eat causes acne. Not true. You can change your diet all you want, but it won't change your acne. Eating the wrong foods can make you fat, but not give you acne.

Acne Laster Treatment

The hi tech way of losing acne

Acne laser treatment is a new, high tech method that has helped many get rid of acne. When people have a hard time treating their acne with stuff from their drug store, they turn to laser treatment. Laser treatment is only for serious acne, not the normal teenage acne. Acne laser treatment can actually help to stop acne once and for all for many individuals.

How Does It Work?

Acne laser treatment is just what it sounds like. The technician will use a very powerful and small laser to wipe out the acne. Usually, the procedure will be done because the acne is being caused, at least in part, by over producing oils in the skin, which is because of your genes. The laser will get to these glands that are under the skin and causing the oils and destroy them. While this seems harsh, laser acne treatment is virtually painless. There are no ramifications to having these glands destroyed either. Once the glands stop producing oils, the bacteria that cause acne will not have an optimal place to grow. This in turn effectively stops acne.

It is important to know that in most causes acne treatments will not necessary cure the acne that is already on your face or body. This will usually be done with antibiotics. Once the oils slow or stop though, there will be fewer outbreaks of acne on the face or body once these heal.

Scar Treatment

Another option for the use of acne laser treatment is that in which the acne scars can be removed. This very powerful laser can actually remove the top layers of your skin near and on the scar. When new skin grows back, it will be healthy and scars are either gone or they are not as visible. Acne scar laser treatment is fast becoming a way to get rid of acne scars that have been on a person's body for years.

In either treatment, laser acne treatment can be quite effective. In some cases, there will be the need for several treatments to be done, though. The only bad part of acne laser treatment is that it is not necessarily cheap. With the several treatments that may be necessary, it may be quite expensive. Yet, even with that said, the results for laser treatments are amazing for many.

Mineral Makeup is Good For Your Skin

If you are using regular greasy make-up, that may be contributing to your acne.

That regular makeup from those big name brands are horrible for your skin. Even many big name make up brands now have mineral make up lines because mineral makeup has gotten so popular and hot. One day, that yucky, greasy regular foundation will be a thing of the past.

If you go to the store and buy a regular compact of foundation, you are hurting your skin. That stuff clogs your pores and can cause acne. It is full of grease and stuff that's just awful for your skin.

If you switch from that bad make-up to mineral make-up, your skin will be much healthier, feel healthier, and you will notice less acne. Mineral make-up doesn't clog your pores like a Covergirl compact would. It's ingredients are completely natural and healthy for your skin. And it covers just as good as any other foundation.

What Causes Adult Acne and What to Do About it

Regardless of age, acne is a condition of the sebaceous glands. It doesn't matter if you are 14 or 44, you can get acne.

Acne that appears after 25 to 30 years of age occurs for one of these reasons:

1. Recurrence of acne that cleared up after adolescence

2. Flare-up of acne after a period of relative quiet-for example, during pregnancy

3. Occurs for the first time in a person who had never previously had acne.

Acne that appears for the first time in adulthood should be examined by a dermatologist who can investigate the underlying cause. Some causes of adult acne are:

* Medication. Some medications that can induce acne include anabolic steroids (sometimes used illegally by athletes to "bulk up"), some anti-epileptic medications, the anti-tuberculosis drugs isoniazid and rifampin, lithium and iodine-containing medications.

* Chronic physical pressure on the skin. Chafing from the straps of a backpack or tucking a violin between the jaw and chin can cause chronic physical pressure on the skin and may induce a condition known as acne mechanica.

* Chlorinated industrial chemicals. These may induce the occupational skin disorder known as chloracne.

* Metabolic conditions. Changes in the hormonal balance, such as those brought about by pregnancy, menstruation or hormonal abnormalities can induce acne.

It is also important to know that some lesions which appear to be acne are not acne at all. One skin condition that resembles acne is folliculitis, which occurs when the hair follicles become infected and inflamed. Folliculitis requires different treatment than acne.

Acne that occurs in adulthood may be difficult to treat if there are multiple recurrences. Some patients with severe recurrent acne have undergone repeated courses of treatment with the potent systemic drug isotretinoin.

Adult acne is more difficult to treat than the common teenage acne that is caused mostly because of hormones.

Usually adults who get acne have over active glands and/or they have very large skin pores. There are ways you can shrink your pores so that they are less likely to get clogged and form pimples.

If you're an adult who suffers from recurrent acne, you should visit a dermatologist who can help you find a treatment.

If you can afford it, laser surgery is highly recommended. Laser surgery can actually eliminate all acne on your face and help prevent it from coming back- though it can't prevent future acne 100%.

Finally, a daily regimen of taking very good care of your face and skin will help control the oil on your face and the acne it causes.
