The Path To Happiness Starts With A Single Step - It Could Be Backwards
From the time I was able to walk,
I have followed my passion for moving, roving, traveling, wandering, getting somewhere in life. With determination and focus, I would follow my heart wherever it would lead me. . . . And then I would get lost on my way back.
When I was six years old, my father gave me some advice that he has never given to anyone else:
"Jerry," for that is what he called me, "whenever you need to go someplace, think first... Think of which way you want to go... Then turn around and go the other way."
Who knows where I'd be today if I hadn't followed his advice once or twice? Or if I had followed it all the time?
We get advice all the time. We get instructions from experts and gurus. And we copy exactly what "winners" do, but we get different results.
Why?
Because we are not winners.
HEY! Don't feel bad and let down. This lens is all about being happy even when you're not supposed to be.
The fact is, you don't become a loser without taking risks. Taking risks is what makes life adventurous, and exciting. So, who would want the boring life of a born winner, anyhow?
Here's a thought. A loser is really a "closet winner." Mindshift your way out of the closet.
The Self-Help Experts Got It Wrong!!
Loser Mentality is Positive.
Is the glass half full or half empty,
and what difference does it make?
Two guys look at a glass of water. It's a 16 ounce glass, but it has only 8 ounces of water in it. So the glass contains half water and half air. Got the picture?
So the first guy says, "The glass is half full."
The second guy says, "The glass is half empty."
All the self-help experts say we're supposed to be like the first guy. We're supposed to be positive and see life as "half full." That way we focus on what we have-and we must be thankful for it - and not think so much about what's missing.
On the other side of the coin, if we say the glass is half empty, then we're losers because we focus more on what we don't have. The self-help experts call that negative thinking.
THE SELF HELP EXPERTS ARE WRONG!!
We may be losers, BUT it's not because of negative thinking. It's because of advanced Positive thinking.
So the first guy sees the glass as "half-full" and he has all sorts of things he can do with the water.
But the second guy - the one who says the glass is half-empty - this guy sees more than just the water. He sees half a cup of opportunity to add something to the water and increase its value.
So what if the opportunity never comes. So what if we never actually increase the value of what is in the cup. So what if we lose everything we own, including the glass of water, trying to make things better.
At least we have fun. Advanced positive thinking is a lot more rewarding than stale old positive thinking.
So let the self-help experts call us losers. What do they know about true happiness, anyway?
True happiness doesn't come from having a half-full glass of water. It comes from having an imagination that comes up with different things to do with the half glass of air - and the courage, and fortitude and foolhardiness to actually try them.
Think about that.for a moment or two.
But don't neglect more important thoughts just for this one . . . .
Real true happiness in life begins and ends with what we do with our minds. People who have no mind have very unfulfilling lives. (I know from experience. Uh - no - I don't really know how I know that.)
And that is one key to how losers can have true happiness. More information at WorldsWays.Com)
