- I think someone should start writing novels of Lost. There's so many ideas that could make great stories and Lost fans would love it. They said they werent going to make a movie, so why not write books?

- Love this list! What about adding Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck? Didn't Sawyer have a conversation with "smoke monster Locke" in season 6 about a scene in the book before pointing a gun at him? Also seem to remember another scene where he discusses something from the book with Jack and once where he is reading the book at the beginning. What are your thoughts?

Everyone has Troubles. Some never face it because the metaphorical path leading upto it is LOST somewhere in the pages of history. But then someone figures out the way. Now people appreciate it and the person who is the cause of it. Who's the saviour ?

- Yes, there are. Rather, there a huge parallels between the plots. In The Tempest, a ship wrecks on to what seems to be just an island, but is really an island filled with mystical, mysterious wonders. And, therein is your parallel.

- I never really got into Lost. My husband loved it and watched it every week. Had I known about the books, I probably could have watched it a bit more closely than I did. I had a lot of trouble with the cast flipping from one time to another, with literally every step they took - or so it seemed.I was always confused.

Great list though. The invention of morel is a must for lost fans and clear hint from the writers.

- There are more books on Ben's bookshelf... Hotel, Red Man's Religion, Kings of Love, The Sheltering Sky, Caravan of Dreams, Fahrenheit 451, Roots, Uncle Toms Cabin and Flowers for Algernon.
The Book of Laws was one of the objects Richard put in front of young Locke.
The Coalwood Way and The Stone Leopard are on the bookshelf in the DHARMA classroom.
And, in Jack's office are... Dark Horse, Dirty Work (which is also in the hatch), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Pale Horse Coming, The Bailey Chronicles, The Scottish Bride, Easy Pray, Eleventh Hour, Hearts in Atlantis, There's No Place Like Home, Valhalla Rising, The Power of Beauty, Domes of Fire, Two Dollar Bill, Redemption, Skinny Dip, The Greatest Generation, Nighttime is My Time, and Fire in the Mind; along with quite a few medical references and a couple of astrology books.

Let me know any others that are missing...Season 5 was lighter on books than previous seasons. The only missing one I know of is the book Sawyer was reading when Jack came to his house in Dharmaville. Haven't found a good screen shot of that one to get the title.

- This page seems to be missing a few books I've seen cited elsewhere or noticed myself - The Stand by Stephen King is a huge influence; and as mentioned the philosophy books A Discourse on Inequality and A Second Treatise of Government have relevance as well. On one of the bonus disks the writers and producers all discussed their literary influences (I believe Season 3?), and Stephen King is cited as a huge overall influence.

- I've been trying to compile a list of books. This had a whole bunch I was trying to catch (only so much time to rewind and look...plus I don't know all the quotes).
The number 23 is important in Robert Anton Wilson's work. Likewise the number 42 in Douglas Adams.
The philosophy books by all the characters named after them could be included. I have them on a separate list but I have articles about them in a file.

I've read:
The Good Twin
Valis
Our Mutual Friend
Lord of the Flies
To Kill a Mockingbird
Of Mice and Men
Watership Down
Turn of the Screw
All good books. Valis was by far the weirdest. I've started on Murder on the Orient Express, and so far I've seen a reference to Sophia (which means Wisdom) in both books- wondering if there is any connection?
