What Is The Smoke Monster?
- It appears to live underground.
- It can read/scan minds and "download" the information for future use.
- It sometimes produces brief flashes of bright light.
- It can take on the form of images from a person's past.
- The Dharma Initiative may have called it Cerberus (the three-headed guard dog of Hell).
- Ben seems to be able to control it.
- It sometimes attacks people and has killed.
- It makes a variety of loud noises and frequently rustles foliage and uproots trees as it moves.
- Damon Lindelof has said it is NOT made up of nanobots.
- Manifestations of the Monster included Yemi, the Medusa Spider that bit Nikki, and some of Walt's appearances while he was not with the Survivors.
- It seems to work as a security system for the Island.
- It seems to judge people on whether they are good or bad (or it reflects the person's own judgement of themselves?).
- It doesn't like the sonar fence.
