Funny how Squidoo doesn't have a category for religion or even philosophy. I picked "News and Politics" instead (the topic can be quite political in nature)
Here's the scoop. James Cameron, the director of Terminator franchise as well as Titanic, is releasing a controversial documentary on the Discovery channel. The film explores the possibility that the Tomb of Jesus and his family has been discovered buried under an apartment complex in Jerusalem.
What are the implications? Well, the suggested mortality of Jesus raises questions about his death, resurrection, his "status" as God's son, his divinity, the Trinity, the early church, the Islamic claim that he is just a prophet, and so much more. Personally, I find the subject absolutely fascinating, as I have done my share of research into early Christian doctrines and literature.
I offer this disclaimer - I am a neutral observer here: I am not a Bible-thumping Christian, nor am I an anti-Christian atheist. Think of me as more akin to an agnostic truth-seeker.

Faith in God does not require any proof scientific or otherwise. Christians belief that Jesus is the Son of God and our salvation. What happened 2000 years ago was unique in human history. Historians may choose to focus on some aspects just as some try to explain the 10 plaques...Miracles do happen.

Actually the names were very common 2000 years ago. What I find interesting is that because the DNA showed that there was an unrelated man and woman, they MUST have been a husband and wife. It's just bad science with the Hollywood spin.

Well, let me start the discussion off. I'm not convinced that these remains are truly those of Jesus. There's no way to know that for sure. However, it does seem quite the coincidence that the names are so familiar. Stranger things have happened. If true does it undermine the Christian faith?
