Looking for Western Treasure hunters and Gold Prospectors
Spending the winter out west and looking for people to hunt with
Hello everyone, we have decided to spend the summer in the Motor home and base in CA Gold region near Lodi so if any one is out there and wants to do some treasure hunting or prospecting in NV, CA or AZ let me know and we can get together gregmulac@gmail.com
Ever want to write a Lost Treasure Hunting book
Calling all the treasure hunters and metal detectors and general rockhounds out there, its time to write that book you have been talking about for ever. Let's get it from your head to other peoples hands. And by doing so you might actually make more money then you spend in this hobby, it's to late for me I will always be buying a bigger motor home or a better dredge or detector, but there
may still be hope for you. Stephanie my lovely wife still lets me believe it's ok to enjoy the things you love to do and it's not really a disease lol.
Yes I know what your thinking where's mine, lol, well it has taken this long to find someone willing to do my editing, Having been educated in a public school in southwestern PA has left my basic
English skills a bit lacking, I was able to get through college, even though that took 20 years while I was traveling around the world the whole time, by doing the minimum in any thing related to
an English class, could be why I ended up with an engineering degree. Ok back to the editor, I have finally found someone that looks at it as a challenge, to take my words and make them
presentable to the general public and not go running out of the room crying and screaming.
Dr Cynthia Porter has agreed to take on the task of making my work grammatically correct, now I think she is actually using me for another thesis of how some one can do every thing there is to do
wrong in the English language, do it really wrong and still tell a story that will be of interest to others, but only time and another
PHD for Cynthia will tell me if I am right on that one. So take a few minutes and visit her blog at
http://www.aspiringwritersresources.com/
And if you have a desire to ever write a book or novel get on her mailing list also.
Now back to getting you published, its a lot easier then you think, with all the new changes in the internet there are so many options to going for a straight ebook or doing self publishing where the
books are printed and shipped as they are ordered so there is no out of pocket cost to the author.
If there is any interest from any of the readers I will continue with this series and cover more and more and even make some of our products available to those that are trying.
If your not sure your ready to jump into the book right away there are a lot of other things you should be doing to get ready from the
basic squidoo lenses I covered in a previous one and is totally free so if you haven't get signed up there and even if you don't do a lenses help by rating the lens of the people out there doing
something to advance the treasure hunting and metal detecting hobby. That free sign up is
http://www.squidoo.com/lensmaster/referral/gregmulac
And to doing a blog like the one I directed you to of Cynthia's or my treasure one also. here there are options and the only determining factor is the amount you want to invest in it, it goes from free to a lot, so it all depends on what your end goal is, if its the hobby and making a few extra dollars the free route is fine, If your looking to retire its going to take some investment.
So again let me know by either email, a comment on the blog or get to me some how and I will continue this if there is any one out there that it can help.
And in case you're interested I work on the book regularly now that I got someone to finally fix it for me, still working on a title and may do something where I get the readers to suggest one or have a contest with the best ones receiving some great prizes.
Still having fun in Vegas, so if your out west let me know.

Fine gold recovery from black sand concentrates
gold recovery
For every gold prospector out there that has been doing it for more then 3 hours, you have a ready supply of concentrates that are full off black sand, your plan is to take it home because you know there is more fine gold in there then you were able to get out of the pan and into a bottle while you were at you favorite spot .
Well after doing this a few times and when it get to be buckets of gold laden concentrates full of black sand you need to do something to make the buckets go away and the fine gold find its way into a nice bottle. You also know you have a problem and need to do something when you have to sweep up the basement floor and run the dirt back throug your dredge befor you can throw it out.
Well there are many ways to deal with this and lots of products out there, from the spiral wheels to the GPAA marketed mini sluices, which is real similar to what I ended up using . The set up is basically a 2 foot house rain gutter with black miners mat and some aluminum mesh over the mat, to see what it looks like just go to eBay and search "Mini Sluice For Concentrates" make sure to click the search titles and description box. The water is powered by a small 12 volt bilge pump that sits in the recovery tub. There are also hose feed models, but I prefer the self contained units.
So we will now assume you have taken the first steps and screened out all the rocks and any big things that will deter you from getting to the fine gold. There are many commercial products out there for classifying as well as using basic household colanders and screens to accomplish this. I prefer and recommend the commercial ones designed to fit into the gold pans and into each other.
Next we will use a gold magnet to start the black sand removal from the fine concentrates, since you are starting with dry concentrates this is relativity easy, pass the gold magnate over the concentrates to separate the black sand from the gold bearing sands. I take the black sand and put it into a rock tumbler with some different size white quartz rocks that I know every one has laying around. After running the tumbler for a few days this black sand is ready to go through the mini sluice for the first time.
While the dry black sand is running in the tumbler we will now run the sandy concentrates that were left through the mini sluice and remove more black sand. I have a smaller gold magnet for this purpose, a gold magnet lets you engage and release the magnet and put the black sand

Treasure Hunting for Indian Peace Medals
Indian Peace Medals
Originally the Indian Peace medals were made for the British Kings starting in the pre revolutionary times, then progressed to having one for each of the US presidents till the late 1860;s. they come in 2 main types, a normal round coin shape that everyone is familiar with, and a engraved oval type Medals.
Since these medals were originally given to the various Indian tribes as a show of friendship, this is where it starts to get exciting for the treasure hunter. The main reason is to think like this, say you were given a nice shiny medal from the US government agent declaring there love of piece. Then you sitting in your tepee minding your own business, and in comes the government agent that a few weeks ago just gave you the medal, telling you there relocating you to the middle of nowhere. Well my first instinct would be to get rid of any thing that reminds me of the government as soon as possible.
Now most treasure hunters and metal detector users know that 90 percent of these medals that were lost or thrown away will be worthless due to where they ended up and what they were made of. We will concentrate on the ones that are not. Gold is really not affected by much, and did I mention the ones made of gold have sold at auction for around $100,000.00, not bad for one swing of a detector.
So where do we start looking, well since the entire US was at one time inhabited by at least one Indian tribe that cover the general where do I look. I have always concentrated in areas in Pennsylvania where arrow heads were found, researching these places will narrow down your initial search area. Try contacting a club or a private collector in your area that will be willing to share more information. Reading every thing you can about your local history will also help.
We now have a new dimension to add to or treasure hunting arsenal, as with any thing you may find, be careful how you treat the items you found and recovered till you know the value of your find. And it goes with out saying that you also need to be careful and considerate of the property you are hunting on.
One final thought, no matter what your treasure passion is, it all comes down to research and planning. If you fail to do these 2 things your chances of success will be slim. So do the research, have fun and good luck in all you do.

Atlantis, UFOs, Bigfoot, Hollow Earth and Treasure Hunting?
It's ok if you looking at the title and going what cold Atlantis, UFO's Bigfoot and treasure hunting possibly all have in common, well with a little time I think I can wrap them all together for you..
These were picked just to open your mind and give you a starting place to go from.
Lets start with Atlantis, I believe there are active expeditions going on all over the world with people looking for Atlantis in all parts of the world, Well from a Atlantis Hunters point of view they should track down some Ship Wreck and water treasure hunters to invite along on there quests.
The benefit to the Atlantis hunter will be adding some one to there hunt that has a fantastic history of all the disasters at sea, the ability and usually the equipment to Dive and locate metal underwater and a understanding that cannot be equaled in knowing what is natural in the water and what should be investigated because it does not belong on the bottom of the ocean. And Since Plato's Timaeus and Critias was realy the first lost treasure story every put to paper and most treasure hunters have a copy of it and know it well.
The benefit to the Treasure hunter is that most searches all ready have some type of funding, usually a boat and some great equipment we don't have access to, along with all the required permits and license needed in some areas. So as a treasure hunter you can get in some dive time and a chance to use that underwater detector a bit more.
Ok are you starting to see how to groups that are not of the same mind set can work together with an outcome that will benefit both groups.
Lets now crash into the UFO groups, Yes that was meant to be funny, well what brought this to mind was a discovery show that I seen that had all these people in a farmers field with all types of equipment looking at a crop circle, Now I understand my logic may be different then most but what came to me instantly was that I would love to be in that field with a metal detector.
So from the UFO hunters perspective, Find some local treasure hunters that will be willing to go into an area that you all ready got permission to check out and use there metal detectors to look for all that don't belong there. And if you're looking for a craft that flies, there would have to be some metal in it somewhere.
And again from the Treasure hunters side you can get access to areas that normally not be able to hunt on and remember finding a place to be able to hunt is all about networking, so every place you go and conduct your self with the proper treasure hunting/ metal detecting etiquette the more doors will open for you to be able to hunt there.
Now we move o to Bigfoot, Blame this one on the TV show monster quest, my oldest daughter Marina who is now 6 wants one as a pet so we watch the series. What stuck me there were these groups that head out into the wilderness areas to look and how the groups usually spend a few days out there, so again my mind went to treasure.
For the Bigfoot hunter the benefits of bring a treasure hunter along would be the Fact that your usually talking to witnesses and every treasure hunter that I know has herd more stories then any one alive and to get good at this has learned when some one is telling the truth or just talking to here them selves talk. As soon as you get know in the treasure hunting community, You will receive every type of scam there is out there, every one knows the location of 200 million in gold but just needs a few thousand to go get it, so in about the first 10 seconds we know when were being scammed.
For the treasure hunter the benefit is heading off into the wilderness to search areas that no one has before, and you have some people around in case any thing happens, the possibilities of undiscovered cashes and even meteorites is just endless, as well as being there with someone that should have some great maps of the area.
I saved my favorite for last, and can blame this one on a birthday gift from my wife and daughters, a Subscription to Coast to Coast AM were I can listen to the broadcasts on the internet after they air and not have to stay up to 5 am to do it. The shows cover so different and controversial topics but one day I caught a show on the Hollow earth. Again my first thought was Gold, Granted probably not what every one else was thinking but that's where I went. If you ever panned or dredged for gold you know it finds it way to the lowest possible place it can, usually on bedrock, so if someone is looking for subterranean rivers or deep caves, there would have to be gold there also.
So for the Hollow earth searcher, Find some gold miners that have no problem plunging into a cave to look for things, understand geology and are usually equipped to deal with most things that live in caves.
For the treasure hunter you will find some caves and places that you never even knew were there to search. And have some one to actually go in the caves with you.
Well I hope I gave you something to think about no mater if you're on the paranormal or treasure side, expand you mind and look for the possibilities that are out there. So to all the Groups on a quest out there remember next time you head off on a quest, why not take a treasure hunter along with you? To do what we do we have to have a Great knowledge of Geology, Archaeology, History, Myths and Legends, Sociology and survival skills, as well as a healthy supply of common sense.

The Thrill of Spelunking
What does spelunking mean? In simple terms, it means cave exploration. Spelunking is rooted in a Latin word spelunca, meaning cave. Technically, it is derived from the word Speleology that means "scientific study of caves". Speleologists are scientists involved in the study of caves. They are the ones responsible for studying cave forms, origin, ecology etc. Edouard Martel first launched cave research and study in France.
How do spelunkers and cavers differ from each other? For some, they are somewhat similar in sense. But technically, there is only a minor difference, which separates them. Some cavers also call themselves spelunkers and vice versa. While others, don't consider themselves as both. Actually, spelunkers are those people who are responsible for the scientific discovery of caves while cavers are just those people who are fond of discovering the caves by just traveling around. Their activities greatly differ from each other.
What are their activities? Both of them follow a predetermined or prepared plan of activities or itineraries. They also both have objectives and expected outputs. But how do they really differ?
Spelunkers or speleologists follow a more formal, written and approved course of work regarding their study, while cavers also follow a list of activities, but for the sole motive of pleasure and enjoyment. They pay for amusement. However, spelunkers get paid for their contributions to science. Students of speleology, also come to caves for educational purposes.
Important Caves
Some caves which are of great importance in spelunking are Colossal Cave Mountain Park of Arizona, USA; Cumberland Caves, Carlsbad Caverns National Park; Desert Caves of Saudi Arabia; and many others. These caves and caverns are explored for history research, wildlife conservation as well as art appreciation and some other discoveries.
Spelunking in the Cave
Caves cater different features for spelunkers. Caves were formed through intense water flow and pressure on rocks and landmasses like mountain or hillsides. Through time, several rock formations were sculpted forming different shapes and structures. They are commonly known as stalactites and stalagmites. These structures are one of the objects of research for some spelunkers.
As cave progresses, it can eventually form into caverns. Different rooms inside also form, as water thrusts on the rocks. And as it improves in formation, living creatures, of both plants and animals, inhabit the area. And so on%u2026 and so forth. This evolution would be one of the reasons why spelunking has paved its way forward.
