The One Ring, picked up by chance in The Hobbit, is the reason for the great quest in the Lord of the rings. Created by the terrible Sauron, it held enormous power and was almost indestructible.
You can buy officially licensed replica rings bearing the elvish inscription that appears when the original ring is heated (although the words are not elvish). Some are meant to be worn as pendants, on a chain - much like Frodo carried the Ring during his journey - while others can be worn normally.
