Everyone wants your money. Whenever you donate to any charitable cause, you begin to receive regular mailings which ask for more from you. If you ever sign up for some free advice from a so-called guru who is giving away information about an online business, you will begin to get emails almost daily about an offer they have for you. The gurus also promote the products of other gurus. They will get a piece of the action or a commission if you sign up with them for the product. This is the business of affiliate marketing. Those who have made a substantial amount of money are not satisfied without having more. If you ever sign up for anything to help with a home based business, internet business, or network marketing, you become part of a list. Once you are on their list, they will be continually and actively pursue you for a sale.

Undoubtedly, there is lots of good advice out there, but there are also hundreds of scams. It is often difficult to tell the difference between them. Most of the people touting various products and programs for making money will say that at least 97% of the claims out there are outright scams. There are many more than 3% of the offers making those claims, which means that many of them may be placed in the 97% category although they assure you that they are not. Some profess to be gurus who have made millions and are now willing to share their secrets to help others.

If you believe the information you receive and the 97% scam statement, you can count on the vast majority of the offers to be totally unworthy of your time or money. It is not a good idea to sign up for a program and give your credit card information just because something sounds good. Almost anyone can write a sales page and produce some legitimate sounding testimonials about how great everyone is doing with their program. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, there's a good chance that it is just that.

There are some good gurus out there who may want to help you. They say that their goal is to build a relationship with you so that you feel that you can trust them. You begin to think they are your friend. They count on that relationship to bring them sales and money from you. They will teach you to do the same with others.

Some points to consider before signing up for any program are:

* Many programs are not worth your time or money
* You should check out programs thoroughly
* Get something with a money back guarantee
* There is a huge disparity in costs of program
* Many programs get your credit card number and charge for services monthly

You may want to take a chance because there are some good programs available. Although guarantees are not always honored, a reputable program will return your money if the program does not work out for you. When you decide that you want to buy their products, consider all the factors and remember to spend only what you can afford.
