Organizing My Squidoo Fun!
Welcome to the lensography of Lotusmalas! My name is Shannon and I am Squidiccted!
I've always been advised to write about what you love. The content and the message remains rich and true, and it remains really fun when we create from the heart.
The following lens tells you all about me through the medium of the lenses I create. I hope you find some you enjoy and don't forget to stop and say Hello at the bottom of the page!
Yoga!
One of my biggest passions is for all things Yoga! In 2007, I started taking yoga classes with a friend at a local studio. We would take our lunch break and slip over to get in some exercise. Soon the twice a week classes turned to 3 and 4 times a week. I was determined to be able to hold postures longer and increase my flexibility. Then I began studying the Yoga Sutras and the spiritual path of Yoga. I finally decided to join a Yoga Teacher Training program in 2009 and underwent an amazing 9-month experience with Yoga! I didn't stop there - I am in the midst of Practitioner Training with Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. Here are some lenses that highlight some wonderful aspects of Yoga!

Have You Ever Tried Yoga?
Chakras!
During my training to become a Reiki Master / Teacher I discovered the wonders of the body's Chakras! As I continued to study for my Master's in Transpersonal Psychology I learned all about how to work with the Chakras toward emotional, physical, and spiritual health. I was fascinated by how much we can discover about how we make decisions and live our lives by focusing in to specific areas of the physical and energetic body. Here are some lenses that describe all of the fascinating facts about Chakras!

Spirituality!
I grew up with an interest in all things spiritual and have explored many different paths and practices. Yoga, Buddhism, Meditation, Hinduism, Reiki, and creative ways of engaging spirit are among my favorites.
Here is a selection of some of the topics I have found most intriguing!

Reading!
I LOVE, love, love, love to READ! There are always a least 3 books I am reading at any given time, and my To Be Read stack of books is 15 books tall! I read everything - fiction, non-fiction, doesn't matter.
Some of my favorite books and authors are highlighted in the lenses below!

What Do You Like To Read?
My Home State - North Carolina!
I moved to NC a little over 10 years ago and have adored it ever since! I love the weather, the seasons, the people, the food, and even the occasional hurricane. These lenses highlight just a few of the places I love in NC!

Cooking!
I truly enjoy days I get to spend in the kitchen and times I get to try out a new recipe. Cooking is relaxing, creative, and mostly delicious! I do have to start doing even more Yoga to make up for it though....

Decorating!
My interest in all things spiritual extends to decorating my home as well. I like to surround myself with art and objects that remind me of the important parts of my life. This also inspires me to be creative as well. Painting, sculpting, wood carving, jewelry making - I'll try it all at least once!
These lenses show off some of the things I really like to shop for!

Tattoos!
A little known fact about me is that I have two pretty large tattoos! They are well hidden, but represent the importance of spirituality in my life. I am also fascinated with the body as a living canvas for beautiful art, and what symbols people value so highly they will have them etched into their skin.
Here are a few lenses about my tattoos and my artist!

Would you ever get a Tattoo?

Would you get Body Art? Why or Why Not?

Yes I would.
arncyn says:
I do have a tattoo but I could only muster enough strength (and guts) for a small one (about 2" in diameter) on my left ankle.
LotusMalas says:
I won't be getting anymore, but I love the ones I have!
No I would not.
VickiSims says:
No, I feel no need for a tattoo. I can think of a million things I would rather do with my time and money rather than spending hours having needles poking ink into my skin.
Home-Interior-Designer says:
I'm not a fan of tattoos. Find them rather ugly, whatever the design.
the777group says:
Advertising is an awful business.
Gemstones!
And, finally.... I have a strong love of the Earth and gemstones. I am an avid rock and gem collector. My parents used to take me rock hunting as a child and I was a happy little rockhound! Now I collect gemstones to make Reiki enhanced jewelry and malas to complement my personal healing and practices.
