Who's Lou16?
Well that would be me! When I moved 'down under' half a lifetime ago people seemed to automatically shorten my name which led to everyone calling me Lou! There are lots of Lou's in this wide world web that we inhabit so I added my favorite number - 16 and Lou16 was 'born'!
Now you know how I was born why don't you keep reading to find out more about me...and visit some of my lenses along the way (after all this is a lensography!).
Why do I Squidoo?
I revisited a few months later and wrote a few lenses in order to create some backlinks, instead I got hooked!
I am a Giant Squid 100 Club Member
After a while I decided to try out for Giant Squidom and I was accepted on my 1st attempt. I can't remember being so excited.....then I made my 1st sale woooo hoooo! I was on fire, mind you the proceeds wouldn't have brought me a latte, not even a bar of chocolate, but it was a S A L E !!I was on such a high I started producing more lenses and thought 100 club here I come. No I didn't, ouch is that a bruised ego I feel?
I finally made it 1 year after I became a Giant (3rd attempt for people keeping record). Again I was absolutely over the moon!
What's Cooking on Lou's Squidoo?

Paeroa is world famous in New Zealand for the Kiwi drink Lemon and Paeroa or L & P as it's colloquially called. L & P is iconic amongst Kiwi's and is a taste that I haven't found replicated anywhere else in the world. L&P tastes great on it's own as...

I Love Cocktails
Anyway although in the summer in Australia it's nice to have a cold beer it's actually not that often that I enjoy alcohol. I figure if I'm only indulging occassionally I should have something special and that translates to cocktails!
Cocktails are more of a whole experience rather than just a drink. I really don't want to spend all of my time making alot of these cocktails though so it also encourages me to slow down my consumption!
Lovely tasting drink - clear head the next day. That sounds like a win/win situation to me!
My friends do enjoy coming over for a cocktail as well, although we don't do it often enough! My selection of cocktails have their own home at Lou's Cocktal Lounge.

1980s
-
Charles Dickens may have written - "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness....."in his 1859 novel A Tale of Two Cities, but he could easily have been writing about the 1980s. The...
I Love Gift Shopping
I don't believe that it's a gift, I think it's just about being 'in tune' with the person you're buying for. Mind you that didn't stop me from producing a number of 'gift' lenses.
You want to know a secret? I'm not even a great fan of shopping usually, only if I have a reason to shop!

I Love Christmas
When I moved to NZ I found that it was harder to get into the Christmas spirit. My hubby and his mates weren't really Christmas-focused either. My mum's theory was that Christmas down under gets in the way of their summer holiday! This made sense at the time as businesses (at that time, not now) shut down just before Christmas and didn't re-open until the end of January!
having a family we do get into Christmas more, thank goodness, although we always have an artificial tree. My first Christmas as a married woman I wanted a Christmas tree - a 'real' one, but when we looked at what was available it was a very VERY sorry sight. The next year we brought our 'fake' Christmas tree and have used it ever since.
All of my friends in Australia and NZ seem to have artificial Christmas trees (if they have any) and I haven't tried to hunt down a 'real' one in Australia.
Here's some ways to celebrate Christmas with me...

If I Write Will They Die?
When I make a lens I usually make it in a word doc (or in notepad) and get all of my links together before starting it on Squidoo.
So I chose my top 10, found my youtube urls and all the links I wanted to use, saved it and went to bed. The following morning I got up and my hubby walks in from the lounge and said 'they think Michael Jackson might be dead.'
