A List Of Albums That Have Blown The Most Speakers And Ears :)

I was cruising deviantart.com and I found this picture by a young fellow in the Netherlands who calls himself Peeke. It reminded me that there were a number of records I've heard in the past that really did need some type of warning on them to prepare you for how much louder they were than other productions.

Some of you may be wondering, "how can one CD be "louder" than another? Doesn't it depend on your stereo?" Well, because we are all audio engineers , when we say "loud", we are usually actually referring to what makes an audio file loud when you play it through a speaker - that's the decibel level or dB level. This level that determines actual "loudness" is the starting point for your stereo to either turn the volume up or down. Unbeknownst to many, there's actually a Loudness War going on in the studio world.

So, the guys and I here at SoundOps Mastering have decided to START a list of the loudest CDs ever. But, we want to hear from you. You don't need to use fancy studio equipment to test how loud your pick actually is. But, you certainly can if you have it available. Just think about it, and add your favorite (or not-so-favorite) speaker busters below with a story or comment if you have one.

Remember, we aren't voting for our favorite songs here (unless yours happens to be unusually loud). Thanks for checking out the Official List of The Loudest CDs! It's the "official" one because all the others have been compiled by dorks who don't get the right people to vote...

Which reminds me, don't forget to vote CDs up the list so everyone will know which album really is the loudest of all time!

    Talking about loud? Mmm, how 'bout the loudest band in the world? Sunn O))) , you should definitely check them out :D I saw them live in a church here in Belgium and my t-shirt was flapping around me due to the huge amount of bass, apparently you could hear the concert several miles further!
