Gulf Oil Spill: a Quick Guide to Volunteering and Activism

Are you ready to become an environmental activist? Do you want to help but don't know where to start? With the onslaught of bad news "pouring" in every day it's easy to feel overwhelmed by this unprecedented oil spill catastrophe. U.S. environmental groups and state agencies continue to accept donations, conduct research, coordinate volunteer lists, write reports and rehabilitate not only injured birds and marine animals but also the families struggling in the aftermath of this crisis. Please read below to find out how you can help by attending the rally in Washington D.C. this Labor Day weekend. Can't make it to the capitol? You can still call the White House, sign important petitions, and keep up to date by reading what the world's scientists are saying about the BP Gulf oil spill disaster and making donations to help people and wildlife.

You asked for suggestions to reduce oil consumption. Some simple solutions are still very effective: Example: carpool or use mass transit whenever you can instead of one person in a car - makes a huge difference when many do it. Using mass transit encourages cities to provide more options.
