Love My Fingerless Gloves

Fingerless Gloves: The Useful Fashion Accessory

I'm making Fingerless Gloves. And wearing them. Even got Steve to wear a pair. The grandkids like them. My daughter has a pair. I found a LOT of cool patterns on the internet for more fingerless gloves that I want to try.

Maybe you thought about trying a pair. Or maybe you want an extra. They're so easy to make. Come on in and have a look. I think you'll be glad you did. ;o)

Fingerless gloves, for men, women, teens or children, are so "handy." The hands are kept warm while the fingers can still function.

I keep a pair in my desk at the office. Sometimes it does get a tad bit chilly in there. With the fingers unencumbered, I'm still able to work with the computer, do filing, or whatever else my job requires.

Since I make my own, I can have any type or color of yarn, add charms (or not), and make matching hats and scarves. I can have some which match or coordinate with my coat, jackets, sweaters, shirts, skirts or pants. They can be delicate and lacy or beefed up for heavy duty usage.

I made a manlier version for Steve (my super-handsome husband) which he likes for driving. With all the snow and cold weather we've been getting here in Oklahoma, that steering wheel gets mighty cold.

Make Your Own Fingerless Gloves

Not by cutting the fingertips off of your regular gloves.

The crochet pattern I use to make fingerless gloves is slightly modified from one I found in a crochet magazine. The article called for cotton worsted weight yarn to make bed gloves. They were meant to be worn during the night after lavishly covering the hands with hand lotion or cream. I liked them so much, I made more - lots and lots more. Only I changed from cotton to acrylic. And made them a little larger. Sometimes I make them with worsted weight (heavy), sometimes with sport weight (medium). The medium weight yarns are good for typing. I want to try making some in baby yarn (light weight). I think that would give the gloves a nice dressy look.

I've decided to share my version of the Crochet Fingerless Gloves pattern on my new website Crochet For Homeless.org. If I can find the magazine with the original pattern, I will of course give credit to the designer.

Steve, My Husband, My Hero

And my Men's Fingerless Gloves Model

Steve's such a good sport. He'll go along with just about anything. As long as it's not modeling underwear. Says he's not going to do that at his age. Maybe 25 years ago.

Even Heroes Can Use Fingerless Gloves

Better to drive the Batcar with.

I am Steve's biggest fan. He is my biggest supporter. He's very good natured about going along with my projects. This happens to be one he can actually use. I just made an adjustment in the length and the width and omitted the little ruffle at the fingers. Now he has his own pair of fingerless gloves.

Yes, I used to use these gloves a lot, when I was doing general veterinary practice in the cold weather. They're brilliant.

Gorgeous. I love the little jewel sewn on. I will have to try that. I suffer from raynaud's syndrome so my hands often get very cold while I work online. These might help yet still provide the mobility to type.

New Crochet For Homeless Website

It's finally up and running.

Crochet For Homeless has been created to coordinate with Hats For Homeless. So many have asked me for a pattern for hats, mittens, fingerless gloves, gloves, neck warmers or scarves that I have started a list of links to a bunch of these that will be good to make for the homeless shelters. I've included pattern links for easy to experienced crocheters. I'll also include a scarf pattern I like, and the fingerless gloves pattern my way. This site is only Crochet just because that's what I do. If someone wants knit patterns, I could add a page with knitting links for hats, gloves and scarves.
