Cystic Fibrosis

"Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that: clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food. In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Someone I love very much was born with CF and has been fighting it since birth. ~ This important person in my life does not like to talk about it, so I will not be able to share all of the story or emotions I am feeling, but I hope I will be able to let people know about Cystic Fibrosis who may have never heard about it or know little of the disease.

Any funds that are raised from sales off of this webpage along with earned income from Squidoo will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to try to help those who are fighting CF, and to help research in hopes of finding a way to lessen or prevent it. ~ Thank you for visiting. Every part of this page is very emotional for me because of my love and pride for the person I am close to whose bravery and strength continue every day to fight against CF.
