Sometimes you just get to thinking that there isn't anyone out there for you........

You see couples everywhere! Arm in arm, smiling at each other, flirting with each other, even when they are arguing with each other they look happier than you are standing there alone.

So how do you find someone? You haven't managed to stumble upon the next love of your life naturally and she hasn't managed to stumble onto you either. You've tried the local singles club, internet dating sites, and an ad in the local paper and you are getting out and out right lonely. You've considered going out and howling at the next full moon to see if that draws in some attention, but other than that brilliant idea, you are left with the option of just sitting around sulking on those long lonely evenings.

So what do you try next? A love potion to attract that special someone to you?

When Cupid Isn't Available...........Pheromones are! 

There are a number of ways that creatures send out signals to members of the opposite sex to let them know that they are interested in mating. An area that is receiving a lot of research as of late is pheromones.

So what exactly is this Pheromone stuff?

A pheromone is a chemical message which stimulates a behavioral response in creatures of the same species. This message can be a warning such as the marking of territory to keep out invaders, or an invitation, such as an ant lies out a chemical trail that is an invitation to food. Pheromones are also used to send out sexual messages such as insects like the coddle moth use to let potential mates know that it is ready to mate.

Bugs do it, animals do it, so why wouldn't humans do it? Why would it not be logical that humans would also use chemical messages to attract members of the opposite sex?

Humans Use Pheromones Too...... 

Studies are indicating that humans do indeed send out chemical messages to each other. Human sexual pheromones are an area of research that is receiving a lot of scientific attention as of late. Pheromones are naturally occurring chemicals found in humans which elicit sexual behaviors and they are indeed used to attract human members of the opposite sex.

Unlike fragrances, these chemical messages are odorless, and are received by a small gland in the nose known as a VNO. When the VNO receives a pheromone signal it sends a message to the brain that stimulates the body and creates a subconscious increase in sexual desire.

People who naturally emit more pheromones or who wear designed pheromones, find that members of the opposite sex look and smile at them more often, the pheromone wearer receives much more sexual attention than they otherwise would have.

Could manufactured pheromones be used to attract people to one another? Although more research is needed to confirm their validity, numerous sexual pheromone products are emerging for sale to consumers, and studies / testimonies are stacking up to say that they do indeed work.

Hirsch's research also found that men's penile blood flow increased up to forty percent from the scent of cinnamon buns, roast meat, cheese pizza, chocolate, vanilla or peppermint."

So do love potions exist? If we as humans are attracted to certain scents then yes, love potions can be created from those aromas, and used as a means of drawing us to one another. Love potions can definitely exist.
