In Love With My Guy

He is from New York, I am from Oregon, and we met in Puerto Rico...now how exciting is that!

I had the good fortune of being stationed as a dental tech on the beautiful isle of Puerto Rico and shortly after settling in I asked the gals in the barracks about the camp we could see from our window. They told me that was the Seabee base and suggested that I stay away because they were a bit wild. Obviously the gals had no clue they should have used reverse psychology on me :) The very next night Annie, a friend that I met in the barracks, and I headed out for the adventure.

Wild, yes...Fun, definitely! Annie and I were in love with these guys that worked hard and played even harder! Plus that is where I met Mark...at the 'wild guy camp' ;)

For all that read this...these guys did play hard, yet they respected us as woman coming into 'their camp'. We never, ever felt threatened or disrespected! They were men of honor!

Mark makes me laugh every single day! Even if it is as at myself! Several years ago we had what we call today, "The Bat Incident".

I swore I saw a bat flying around in the garage so he went out to investigate. Well funny, ha ha him came running in the back door screaming that he had 'the bat' tangled up in his hair and when I saw the damn thing flopping on top of his head...big, brave me ran straight out the front door 'to safety'!

Then I heard all the laughter coming from the house, curious I peeped in the screen door to see that he had a black piece of plastic, 'the bat', that he was fluttering on top of his head! To this day and I think forever more, he'll tell that story and we will always laugh!

Just the other day I swore I had placed my wedding ring on the windowsill at our friend's house before I washed up some dishes. Well, after a search through the garbage from the night before, my sweetheart Mark proceeded to look in every possible place that I may have dropped or set down my ring. Realizing that I was on the verge of tears he called home to ask our son to look on 'our windowsill'. I was determined it was not there...I distinctly remembered placing it on my friend's windowsill. Well long story short...yes my ring was on our windowsill!

That opened up the flood gate of tears, proclaiming I was going crazy, loosing my mind! Many hugs, kisses, and convincing me this happens to other people too, totally made me feel so very loved! Just in case you did not know it yet, I am one lucky gal.

1. We've grown to find true passion and happiness and give it our all!
2. When we say we are sorry...we mean it!
3. We freely give, as well as receive hugs and kisses between us!
4. We've learned that being a couple takes work, deep breathes before blurting hurts, plus considering each others feelings is huge!
5. When it came to making decisions about the boys, we stood united!
6. Honesty IS the best policy in our marriage!
7. Without a doubt we believe in each other!
8. We can talk to each other about anything and everything!
9. Spicing things up a bit every now and again makes our relationship fun and exciting.
10. We rarely forget the common courtesies like 'please' and 'thank you'...those kind words carry a lot of weight and speak loudly of respect for each other!

Granted raising children isn't always a cake walk, however without our wonderful boys we would not have been a family. A family that had its ups and downs, a family that played together, a family that dreamed together...four warm and loving people bound together forever.

Thank you Brandon and Nick for sticking it out through thick and thin to come out the other side with your personalities in tact - especially for always realizing that your dad and I did our best to help you make it in this crazy world.

We are proud of you, beyond belief, for being the fine young men that you are today!
