Loving What Is

My Book Review
The philosophy comprised in Byron Katie's Loving What Is will look familiar to practitioners of Buddhism or other spiritual philosophies of detachment. Think of books along the lines of Way of the Peaceful Warrior, A Course in Miracles, or even The Four Agreements for an idea of the direction Katie is headed. However, this book is different. Loving What Is offers simple and concise instructions on how to take your stressful thoughts and dissolve them. There are no long-winded parables, no stories to extract from, no lessons to grow through; Just four questions and a turnaround.
Four Questions & a Turnaround
#1. Is it true?
#2. Can you absolutely know that it is true?
#3. How do you feel, what happens when you believe that thought?
#4. Who would be without that thought?
Turnarounds. Turnaround the original statement to find one that could be as true or truer than your stressful thought. [Then, ever so careful for you to complete your Work, Katie will insist you find at least 3 examples.]
The book is gracious in that it offers plenty of "stressful thoughts" from real people and has transcribed the interactions in her book. Katie, acting as Facilitator (the one who is helping the inquirer) gently and with compassion leads the seeker of reality through the Four Questions (or the Work, also called Inquiry) and to the turnarounds.
Loving What Is Highly Recommended
Two thumbs way up
A refreshing and welcoming respite for anyone who has emotional pain, suffers, or otherwise finds themselves in conflict with themselves or the world. It will challenge your beliefs if you do The Work. I, for one, needed my beliefs to be challenged. I was in turmoil and was being eaten alive in my mind to the degree it manifested throughout my body. Bedridden with an unknown illness and sick in my mind, I finally picked it up after a year of owning it. And then the healing. I was re-born. This book is an easy A+.

The Work is a very sensible alternative to suffering. Not new to Eastern Philosophies, this refreshing book lays the instructions out in 4 questions and a turnaround. It doesn't have to be a religion unless you desire sanity and clarity as a religion and if you do, I will be right at the altar with you.
“I am the source of my pain. But only all of it.”
Placing the blame or judgment on someone else leaves you powerless to change your experience. Taking responsibility for your beliefs and judgments gives you the power to change them.
Doing Byron Katie's The Work
I invite you to visit my Doing Byron Katie's The Work as I offer examples of stressful thoughts that can be taken to Inquiry (The Work). It's one thing to read a simple 4 questions instruction and to claim it's easy and that's all that is needed to transform your reality into the love of your life. But to see it in action is a wholly different experience. I invite you to come explore the magic.

My Lenses
If you like my mojo, you might like some of my other lenses.
I have a huge and long-winded biography but for simplicity, I'll throw some labels down that I have noticed or learned about myself. I am an HSP, INFP, spiritually seeking, manifesting, and metaphysical human being. I practice buddhism, metaphysical christianity, and enjoy so many other wonderful religious teachings. Other people have described me as funny, clumsy, open, cheerful, kind and compassionate. So, if you like this mojo, you might like my other lenses. Thank you, Love & Light, Samsara (Sept. 26, 2011)
