Why Choose A Low Carb Diet?
Protein is required for tissue replacement and repair. Carbohydrtes supply the fuel required by our cells to function. Fats also supply a quality source of fuel for the body.
Because carbohydrates are the body's best source of instant energy, when carbohydrates are radically reduced, the body must go elsewhere for fuel.
Dietary fats are not good sources of instant energy, so our bodies release a hormone that signals our cells to release free fatty acids and glycerol. They provide a quality source of energy.
I found that with the low carb diets that work, individuals were given very small amounts of carbohydrates at first, and more were added as the diet progressed.

Simple sugars are basically foods that contain good old fashioned white sugar. Good examples are candy,cookies,pie,soft drinks, etc.
Most of the low carb diets that work that I researched, encouraged individuals to avoid simple sugars and eat mostly complex carbohydrates.
ALL the low carb plans encouraged a regular exercise program.
