Making a decision on a hosting service package can be confusing and expensive if you're not aware of the great deals that are available. It's easy to get all messed up when trying to choose a hosting service for your website or websites (trust me, I've been there, done that!) Take a deep breath and let's see if I can help you make a more informed and more economical decision for your hosting needs.
What to Consider When Choosing a Low Cost Hosting Service

Trying to choose a low cost reliable web hosting service may not seem all that important right now as you are first starting with a website, but I'm gonna tell you this... when your website goes down (which all websites will at one time or another), you will learn to appreciate a GOOD hosting service.
Thankfully, in todays online market, the cost to have a website hosted and online is relatively cheap. However, there are times when cheap can be REALLY expensive. If your cheap hosting provider goes down and your site is offline for a day, or two...or three... what will that mean to your business?
There is a difference between cheap hosting and low cost hosting. The main goal of this web page is to help you find affordable and RELIABLE web hosting for your web site needs.

as well as those pesky terms...

Hosting Terminology
- Bandwidth -
Bandwidth is the amount of data that can be transmitted at one time through your server. Put simply, the higher your bandwidth, the larger amount of traffic and activity your site can handle at one time.
- Control Panel -
The control panel that is included in web hosting packages is an online web-based application that allows you to easily manage different aspects of your account. From most control panels you are able to upload files, add email accounts, edit contact information, set up shopping carts, view statistics, etc. One of the best control panels (in my opinion) is CPanel. It is very easy to navigate and has everything that most webmasters need.
- Domain Name -
The actual name of your website. Example: www.YourDomainName.com. Being able to host more than one domain name on your hosting account is a definite plus.
- Electronic Mail -
Also called 'email'. A good hosting package will allow more than one email address for each domain name you host. For example, you could have:
YourName@YourDomainName.com
Info@YourDomainName.com
Sales@YourDomainName.com
YourCoWorker@YourDomainName.com
etc.
Look for hosting packages that include email accounts.
- FTP -
File Transfer Protocol. Quite simply put, this is the process that allows you to get webpages on your website. Web pages, files, and/or images are 'uploaded' via FTP to your server (your hosting) and are then available online. This is a very basic explanation, my apologies if it is too elementary. When I first started online, I had no clue what FTP, or Upload, or any of that meant. I would've appreciated someone defining it in very basic language.
- Fantastico -
This is a program that automatically installs software on your website. The reason I mention Fantastico is because many website owners would like to use WordPress as their blogging platform for their site. Fantastico makes it VERY easy to install WordPress.
How Much Bandwidth Do You Need With Your Hosting Package?
When considering a hosting service, you may wonder how much bandwidth you will need. You certainly don't want to pay for more than you need, but it is important to make sure you will have enough."The average web site contains a mix of text and images throughout its pages, and may or may not offer files for download. The average web site also gets average traffic, meaning anywhere from 50-500 visitors per day. Assuming these factors, a hosting plan with anywhere from 3-5 gigabytes (GB) of data transfer per month should suffice. For sites that get more than 500 visitors per day, or those that offer numerous large files for download, it may be wise to secure a hosting plan with 50 gigabytes of data transfer per month - or more."

Low Cost Hosting from Host Gator
My Personal Choice to Host All My Websites
When it comes to low cost hosting, I am not impartial at all. I have a favorite, it is the hosting company that I use for my own sites, and I recommend it to anyone and everyone hoping they will use them, too.
HostGator is my personal pick for affordable and reliable website hosting. To me, one of the best things about Host Gator is that they do not require any kind of contract or pre-payment. You pay month-to-month and that's that.
Heck you can even get your first month of HostGator hosting for only ONE CENT (click here for instructions how to get this special deal)
Host Gator has worked great for me. I have over 30 websites on one very low cost hosting account with them and over 110 sites with another bigger hosting account (I had to upgrade due to site usage and bandwidth needs...but I stayed with HostGator!)
The package I get from Host Gator is about $10 per month. No, this is not as low cost as the other above hosting services - but HostGator is great. I chose to spend a little bit per month in order to host all the domains I wanted to and with customer service I could count on.
Naturally, this is my personal opinion. I am sharing my opinion because I think we all feel a little bit better actually knowing someone who really uses a service or product we are considering.
While HostGator is perfect for me, it may not be exactly what you want. Just make sure to give Host Gator a peek before you make a final decision.

- Every company must have a main objective or goal. Is the primary purpose of your website or sales information? Who is your target audience? Who are the people who visit your site? Who will be the majority of your visitors?
Once you get to answer these questions, you can then decide on the theme of your website. Your choice of theme can be facilitated by jotting down a list of things you good or are interested in the subject. Then, a little research will tell you if your subject is in high demand. Having everything you need to either develop a product or a service that matches the theme of your site or find a product or service for sale which fits the theme of your site.

- I like how you used the default, "Contents at a Glance", and then at the end of your page, you added the Table of Contents module (removing the title), to show all your modules again. This module automatically provides links back to any module a person might want to read again.

- Thanks for sharing the hosting terminology terms in your page. Previously those terms sounded like greek to me. Now I have clear idea.
