Low GPA College - What Should Your GPA Be at a Low GPA College?
So you didn't do as well as you wanted to in high school and you're looking for a low GPA college. That's the way a lot of people start, in fact that's how I got myself through college. I went to the local community college & then moved to a state university after I had established a good GPA at my local school.
One thing I had to ask myself when I started, am I going to stay at a low GPA college, my local community college, or am I going to try to get into the state university that I really want? Do I want to raise my GPA and get in to the state university, where my degree would be more respectable? For me, the answer was obvious: I had goals and the respectable University was the only way to get there. Unfortunately for me, I didn't understand why I had a low college GPA to begin with. I struggled through my first semester, working harder than I ever had in high school, and I didn't see the results I was hoping for. It turns out I didn't know how to get a good GPA to begin with, so how could I be expected to raise low gpa scores? What I had learned when I was in elementary and high school was the problem, not my desire to succeed now. It's easy to get out of a low GPA college and into a more respectable school.

Picking a College - Go for that First Tier School!
... or second tier, or third. It's all good.
Colleges are ranked. They've got labels like first tier, second tier, third tier. The greater the number in their rank, the more likely that you are looking at a low GPA college. If you attend a univerisity, they could have a first tier science and engineering college, and a third tier college of business. The college acceptance GPA for more prestigious schools will be higher. This is something that you're going to want to consider when you're looking at colleges. It's important, your employer knows about the college or university you attend and so should you.
This is what makes or breaks most people when deciding what college to attend. You can attend a third tier college, low GPA college, get a good degree & when all's said and done be more than prepared to enter your field. You'll find a job and get where you want to go, but the different can be like night and day: just maintain the average student GPA at a good school & you could beat out the valadictorian from that low GPA college.

Getting a Good Job
It all starts in college!
I'd be doing you an injustice to sit here and tell you that you're never going to amount to anything if you don't get in to the "best" school. In fact, I went to a third tier, low GPA college, and I'm doing all right for myself! I did, however graduate with a 3.8 GPA. I know it's not that coveted 4.0, but it was enough to land me a really good job right out of school, low GPA college or not!If you're wondering what the difference between a "good" job and a "good enough" job is, let me tell you: a good job will give you good pay, a good mark on your resume, and good skills that you can bring with you. Life is a collection of the things that you've learned. In fact, that's how I look at my life: I'm collecting things, skills, ideas, knowledge, that I'm bringing with me and applying in my life. It's enriching, it's productive, and it's smart.
This doesn't start at your job, though. It starts now! In fact, there's a boat load of reasons you need to be concerned about your GPA. You can't fake your gpa, it really is a reflection of what you've learned. I just juiced you up about getting a good job and learning a bunch of great skills that will make your life better, right? It happens in college too!
Everything that you're studying is sharpening you for later in life. Take it seriously, most people only get one shot! Like I said, you don't have to go to the best school, but you do need to take your studies seriously no matter what school you attend. If you don't care about what job you'll have, what your future holds, you should go ahead and navigate away from this page you could be watching TV! Just know that you'll regret it, because life will make you care, and think about why you came looking for this information to begin with: because you're concerned about your future?
Help Studying
It isn't hard as long as you do the work.
Building skills is great, getting a good gpa is even better. Even if you attend a school with low GPA requirements, you still need to focus on achieving a good GPA. It doesn't have to be hard, though. If you're working tireless hours and busting your hump to get a 4.0 or even a 3.0, you're doing something wrong. Think about tying your shoe. I know this is oversimplified, but most things are really simple once you know how to do them. You can probably tie your shoes by feel alone. In your head you see the strings swooping and looping and getting in to the right places for that final tug. That's what learning can be like!
It's all about how you train yourself. Don't worry about going to a low GPA college, worry about getting a good GPA at that low GPA college. Learn the right way to do things, practice them (practice makes perfect!), and before you know it you'll be flying on auto-pilot, getting the grades that you want & still have time to hang out with your friends. Seriously, it's easy. There's work involved, and you have to get it done, but you could be slug and sit around your room all day and get good grades. You just have to do the work!
