Discover if you Have High Blood Pressure, Before it is too late

Diastolic Systolic? Do these words mean nothing to you? Do you have hypertension and want to learn a little bit more about the terms? Do you not know about hypertension? If so this lens is a good place to start. Blood pressure is the force of blood against the walls of arteries. When it stays elevated for long periods of time this is called High Blood Pressure (HBP),also known as hypertension. All this extra work the heart does causes it damage and wears it down. It will create atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). All of this directly effects heart disease, stroke and aneurysms. Heart disease and stroke are the #1 and #3 causes of death in America. If you say, "Does it matter to know about hypertension?" I would answer, "Well, it will kill you if you don't."

HTN The silent killer

HTN is like a vice on your heartHypertension shows no warning signs. That is why it is known by the name, "the silent killer". Once it develops it will last a lifetime, though there are many things you can do to keep it under control. Including many methods to reduce high blood pressure naturally. The only way to know you have it is to get it tested. This can be done at the doctors office or with an "at home" portable machine. The most reliable way to measure it is to take a few different readings over a period of time and average the readings.

The machine to measure BP is called a sphygmomanometer. It measures in millimeters of mercury (mmHg) and recorded as two numbers. Systolic pressure "over" Diastolic pressure.
i.e. "140 over 80"

Some people "only" have HBP when visiting a doctor's office (due to "nerves"). This called "white-coat hypertension" and can be ruled out by getting a sphygmomanometer and checking it frequently at home.

If you have HTN or even are borderline you need one of these to possibly save your life

Omron HEM-780 Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor with ComFit Cuff

Let the reviews decide for you:
As a primary care physician, I've seen a lot of BP monitors that my patients bring to the office to check for accuracy and other features. This one seems to be the best. The easy to apply cuff, auto inflation, its accuracy, the memory, the averaging feature, the AC converter all make it worth the slightly higher price over other Omrons, which I consider the most accurate brand. Since I too have high blood pressure, I decided to buy one myself!

I work for a major rx chain, have sold many of these models. This one is the best of the omron line. The cuff is awesome, easy to wrap around the arm. We sell this unit for 1oo bucks. I should have bought mine at amazon.

There has never been any really off readings. No wild swings. It is very easy to use and comes with good instructions and a nice carrying case. Makes it easy to take on vacation with you. AC adapter makes it where you don't have to worry about dead batteries.

Today I checked the meter comparing it to the doctor's monitor and it is very accurate.

The list of positive reviews goes on and on

Tips for getting your blood pressure taken:

Do not drink coffee or smoke for 30 minutes before your reading.

These can raise your results by 10% both diastolic and systolic.

Before you get your BP read, sit for five minutes. Back supported, feet flat on the ground. Rest your arm on a table at heart height.

Make sure you empty your bladder before a reading. A full bladder can throw off the results.

Wear short sleeves so that your arm can be accessed.

Welcome to your new home!

Your new home if you do not take Blood Pressure seriouslyNot too much too it. Everyone should get their BP checked out regularly. HPB can manifest even in children and teens. There are many ways to prevent and cure high blood pressure naturally. The last thing you want is to be on four separate medications that make you continuously feel like crap or (if you do nothing) dead.

To all readers, if you are planning to buy a sphygmamometer I would recommend you the regular type of sphygmamometer like this one http://www.pulsestore.com/medical-instruments.aspx not the digital type because the regular type of sphygmamometer is more accurate than the digital that depends with the battery.
