Learn Search Engine Optimization

Learn how to use SEO to get your lens ranked within google. (You'll want to do this in the early stages of the game because it takes a while for Google to crawl) Make your lens optimized with the keywords you are targeting, but don't over use the keywords. You want the lens to be readable and written by you - not the keywords.

Some SEO Basics

Because You Want Search Engine Traffic

1. Try to use 3 targeted keywords in your lens URL.
2. Apply no follow to your affiliate links.
3. Make sure there is at least 350 words of unique content written for the keywords, not with them. (Of course you will want to add the keywords in the body of the text, but not so much that it's not readable).
4. Interlink your lens'.
5. Learn how to use tags effectively Visualizing Squidoo Link Flow

Quality Content - Not Quantity

Make your lens long enough for a good read, but not too long so people don't want to read it. You want to do this by using quality content that comes from 'you'. Not some prepackaged information you found on the internet. What was your experiences with the product/service/topic. Of course you can use facts that you've found and some sources, but provide your own opinion. That's what makes lens' sticky.

Be Creative

What makes your lens stand out from the rest? If you don't know, ask for other people's opinion and ideas.

Join The Forums At Squidu

Now that you have a lens that is optimized for the search engines (you won't see much traffic at the beginning) and great content. Join the forum here at Squidu. First, introduce yourself at the introduction section of the forum. Next, add a link to your lens in your signature. Get used to the forum, and do not spam. Ask real questions, answer questions from your perspective, give real insight, and don't drop links everywhere. If you want people to check out your lens for improvement go to the critique section of the forum.

Comment On People's Lens

View other people's lens that you are interested in. Read the whole lens, and leave a comment on their guestbook. Tell them what you think of the lens, and do not leave generic messages that you copy and paste on every lens. I wouldn't advise posting a link in your comment - if people appreciate your comment they will check out your profile, and go to your lens and sometimes leave comments.
