Low income housing, What its like
It is my hope to help you understand just what its like to live in government assisted housing
Subsidized housing and section 8 are much alike
Both request a completed application, credit check, a back ground check,
proof of income for all household members, proper Identification for everyone living in the home,bank accounts, both savings and checking of each household member,
This is something you will need to show proof of every six months for subsidized housing and if I'm not mistaken once a year for section 8
most do not allow pets without a Doctors note for a ( companion pet ) for someone that is ILL or Disabled
The Rent is approximately one forth of your households combined income
Section 8 takes a lot longer to get on however its worth the time and effort applying
Once on section 8 if you continue living in the home without being removed from the program you can get it transferred to other county's and or states
There are set limit's as to what they feel is appropriate rates for the number of people in your household to afford for an apartment

Speak with some of the tenants
They can let you know all kinds of information about the management / maintenance
And crime
As you are looking around the complex look to see if the trash is kept in a trash can/dumpster or all over the parking lot
Look online for blogs/pages/lens about the apartment complex most are trying to help new comers get the needed information
Is there a playground ?
Where is it located, Near the street ,Or in a safe location ?

You are aloud to have guest visit
But each guest must be approved prior to staying overnight
And they are limited to staying no more then fourteen days per year
Vehicles must be in good repair and be inspected insured and up to date tags or they can and will have it towed at your expense
Management as well as Maintenance have keys to the apartments the can and do enter if and when needed ,... That can be without much notices
They will give you notice of scheduled inspections /pest control
this can happen as much as four times a year
Inspection Or Drug Search ?
Inspection Or Drug Search ?Some Inspections feel more like a Drug Search then an inspection
They can look throughout your apartment
in such places as your refrigerator under the sinks in and around Hot Water Heater
However They will Look for any criminal behavior and report it to the proper authority's ,. After all they are not hoping to give a safe haven to criminals
usually you can count on at least two people to come in to your apartment to do the inspection

- lGood to know about this low income housing by the government.This would a better program and i hope utility billing services is available and not so expensive.

- This should be done, to fill the needs of the people.Subsidized housing will help people to own a place.In our apartments in cawe actually had way to subsidize things.

- Interesting. I did know much about this. Apartments in general require a thorough checking out before signing a lease...I certainly lived in some lousy ones over the years. The rules on these however are definitely ones you need to understand before moving in!
