Overcoming Low Self Esteem And Loneliness
Low self esteem and loneliness go hand in hand. Self esteem is our own perception and personal view of ourselves. When our vision of ourselves is damaged through excessive criticism, lack of support and encouragement, perceived failure or emotional abuse, the result is low self esteem.
Once low self esteem is formed, it affects every aspect of our lives. The one affected the most is our relationships with others. This is why loneliness is so common when you have low self esteem.
People who have low self esteem usually have problems connecting with and opening up to others. They feel inferior and this self doubt keeps them from forming relationships and interacting with people. This is where the loneliness starts. Their low self esteem keeps them isolated and feeling that no one understands them or is there for them.
The solution to overcoming low self esteem is to start taking corrective action immediately. When you begin to do something to correct your low self esteem, you will start to feel better about yourself. Just knowing you are trying to do something to correct it, will raise your self confidence.
Be assured that you can overcome low self esteem, and the loneliness you feel will also go away. The key to improving your self esteem is to control the way you talk to yourself. Negative self talk is the primary cause for continued low self esteem and loneliness. You must change the way your mind thinks about yourself. It can be turned around. You just need to know that you can overcome it - don't put it off - take action right away.
The easiest way to do this can be found at Solutions For Low Self Esteem.
Low Self Esteem And Loneliness - Corrective Steps To Take Now
People with low self esteem usually avoid social settings, isolate themselves and then have to cope with the loneliness that comes from lack of self confidence. Here are a few steps you can incorporate into your life immediately to start turning your low self esteem and loneliness around. The most important thing you can do to raise your self esteem is to control how you talk to yourself. The negative things that you say to yourself are why you continue to have low self esteem and why you are suffering with loneliness. Try to recognize these negative thoughts and immediately replace them with positive ones. The best way to overcome negative self talk is by using affirmations.
When affirmations are repeated, eventually your mind will believe them to be true. When a negative thought about yourself comes into your mind, replace that thought with an affirmation. Try using affirmations such as "I am a wonderful person; everyone likes me." or "I am successful, happy and popular." or "I have the perfect life - everything is going my way." Take some time to come up with your own affirmation - one which will help you feel better about yourself.
Don't compare yourself to other people. All of us are different. All of us have our good qualities and our bad qualities. It is unfair to compare yourself to anyone else. You are a unique and special person unlike anyone else.
Begin to participate in activities that you enjoy. Many times people with low self esteem stop doing the things that they love. When you get involved in activities and your favorite hobbies again, it will curb your loneliness and help boost your low self esteem.

- People with good self-esteem can also be very lonely. I think it's a little unfair to say that all lonely people also have low self-esteem. This is just not true.
