Welcome to the official LP Revivalist merchandise store
LP Revivalist was established by Dr Andrew Tindell, a music and Hi Fi enthusiast. He has always preferred the sound of vinyl. Andrew says "Having been frustrated at not having my favourite old albums on CD and hence my iPod and also my Music Server system, I decided to solve the problem by converting my records to digital format. The results became LP Revivalist."
LP Revivalist uses a top end Hi Fi system, professional studio software and an Apple network comprising Mac Pro, Mac mini and MacBook to convert the LPs, cassette, CDs, SACDs and Mini Discs to 24 bit (LPs only) or 16 bit digital format. The music is then loaded on to a music server or CD.
LP Revivalist is the holder of a Casual Reproduction licence (issued by the Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society) which allows LP Revivalist to provide a format shifting service for records that are still subject to copyright protection. The licence allows LP Revivalist to make a digital copy or CD copy of an LP or cassette for the owner of an original, legitimate copy of the record for the owner's personal use and provided that the owner retains the record. If the record is no longer subject to copyright protection or you are the owner of the record or you have obtained permission from the copyright owner to copy the record, the restrictions described above may not apply.
Many of LP Revivalist's clients have asked for merchandise so LP Revivalist has opened a Zazzle store to allow its customers to order LP Revivalist official merchandise.

LP conversions
LP Revivalist first of all cleans the record using our Moth MkII record cleaning machine and then we play the album on one of the best turntables in the world, a Linn Sondek LP12 with Ekos SE arm and Arkiv cartridge. We then convert the analogue signal to digital using a standalone Analogue to Digital converter which then feeds the digital signal into our Apple network comprising Mac Pro, Mac mini and MacBook where we capture it using professional studio software. We record in a 24 bit 48KHz or 96KHz process and then convert this to 16 bits using an advanced dither algorithm. This ensures we get the maximum information possible off the record. At this stage we have a digital recording of your album. That in itself sounds pretty good, in fact extremely good, but we don't stop there. We apply a wave correction algorithm that analyses the entire waveform of the recording and identifies all the crackles and scratches. It then removes these and corrects the resulting waveform to produce a quality of sound that is actually better than that originally recorded, although naturally the original vinyl sounds even better. This process also, as multiple listenings have shown, preserves quite clearly the analogue nature of the original recording.
We then carefully and by hand divide the original single wave file into individual tracks again as wave files.
Finally we will either burn these tracks to a CD for you or alternatively will supply the tracks as tagged (with artist, album, year, genre and track information ) Apple lossless files that can be imported into iTunes and then be either synchronised as is to your iPod or you can convert them to a compressed format as required. We supply the Apple lossless tracks on DVD or, in the case of large quantities of albums on hard disk. Alternatively the tracks can be supplied as FLAC lossless format if required.
Cassette conversions
LP Revivalist converts cassetts using a Nakamichi 680 cassette deck with Dolby B if your cassettes were recorded using this noise reduction method. We then convert them to 16bit 44.1khz digital format. We apply digital algorithms to minimise tape hiss and if requested split them into tracks. We always split prerecorded tracks into tracks where these are indicated on the cassette information. If they are tapes you have recorded then we charge extra for this service as we have no way of knowing what is on the tape when we convert it to digital format. Note a CD can only accommodate 80 minutes so in some cases 2 CDs will be required.
Video conversions
LP Revivalist uses a professional digitiser which provides much better quality and accurate video/audio synchronisation compared with some of the cheap consumer video grabber devices. We convert the video to DV standard which is uncompressed and is around 13Gb per hour. We edit in that format and only then convert to DVD.
DVDs of less than 2 hours duration are burnt onto Lightscribe single layer DVDs. DVDs of over 2 hours are burnt onto Lightscribe dual layer DVDs. DVDs are labelled.
We can currently convert VHS, C-VHS, Video 8 and Mini DV formats to DVD.
We also offer an editing service.
All videos are stored digitally on our servers for 30 days after your order is processed. After that time they are permanently deleted.
