Golf Instruction

Teaching golf sounds like a easy thing to do, doesn't it? Well, it can be. It takes three things to be a good golf instructor: Patience, Knowledge of how the body works, and the most forgotten part Psychology. If you can't trick a student into doing what they are supposed to be doing then there is not much teaching going on.

About Me and Where I have Taught.

I have been teaching golf since 1999. I got my start as a Assistant Pro at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Maryland. At Woodmont I learned the basics of how to run a golf business. But most importantly it was the start of my teaching career. Swing theory was discussed often among the pros there and I had the chance to watch many lessons from more experienced teachers. Needless to say I soaked up alot of information my first few years as a instructor.
In 2004 I moved to Northern Michigan to teach at Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville. They were then named one of the top 25 golf schools, and also one of the top 5 women's golf schools in the country by Golf Digest. While there I had the privilege of learning from and working with some of the best golf instructors in Michigan. In 2006 I became the Nike Jr. Camp Director and survived multiple week long overnight camps with 40+ kids.
I left Crystal Mountain for warmer weather and older students (just kidding), I am currently the LPGA Teaching Professional at The Forest Country Club in Ft. Myers, Florida during the Winter months and return to Michigan for the summer. I have started a Golf Academy at Centennial Acres Golf Course in Sunfield (west of Lansing).

My Swing Philosophy

Every golf instructor has a swing theory or philosophy about how the motion of the golf swing happens.

My theory is pretty simple. It is all about you! I teach the golf swing for your body type and limitations. I work with a student to maximize thier ball striking ability knowing that they may not be as strong as Tiger Woods or as flexible as Lorena Ochoa. I spend a lot of time on the psychology of the game. You wouldn't believe how negative we are as a society. A lot of time in a lesson is often dedicated to changing the student's vocabulary to more assertive and positive words.
