Louisiana State University (LSU)
With the economy at a stand still, many of us are considering the option of heading back to school for a better job. But, picking the right school isn't always easy unless you've done your homework. And if you've done your homework, you might or might not know that when it comes to southern schools, Louisiana State University (LSU) is one of the best around.

The History of LSU
Established in 1853, the college then named the Seminary of Learning, is home to the "Fighting Tigers" and is one of very few universities nationwide that hold the land, sea and space grant status. During its first 17 years, the school closed and then re-opened several times due to several events and changed its name permanently to LSU.
Over the years the school has been home to many famous faces including, music composer Bill Conti, author James Carville, basketball player Sylvia Shaqueria Fowles, basketball champion Shaquille O'Neal, author Rex Reed, film director Steven Soderbergh and actress Joanne Woodward.

However it's famous faces isn't the reason so many students choose to attend the school. Some of the many degrees that are offered include, business, environment, engineering, law, music and drama arts, medicine, social work, veterinary medicine and dentistry.
In addition, there are numerous libraries with the main library housing nearly 3 million books.
The campus contains ten senior colleges and three schools with an enrollment of more than 26,000 students, 1, 500 faculty members and over 5,000 staff members as of to date.
With so many available degrees to choose from and so much going on with LSU, it's really not surprising that its one of the best in the area. What's your opinion?
