Pavarotti's 5 Greatest Opera Videos on Youtube
Luciano Pavarotti is probably the most famous opera singer to come out of the 20th century. He is known throughout the world for his vocal ability, and by the end of the century he was the face of opera. I'm by no means an expert on the man, but below I've listed 5 of my favorite videos of performances that I found on Youtube.
Yes, the songs are in Italian, but you don't have to understand the words to enjoy the beauty of these performances. If you do want to understand the words, you could always go to my website italianizeyourself.com. We offer Italian lessons! (Shameless plug). Anyways, listen, enjoy, and make your cultural knowledge more well rounded.

Luciano Pavarotti Sings La Donna E' Mobile
Rigoletto
I love this song, and Pavarotti in no way lets me down. Not only is he a master of his vocal cords, but he clearly has complete control over his eyebrows. The setting is actually pretty cool too. It's nice to catch The Pav (that's what I call him) in character and not just singing in his usual tuxedo. Yes, la donna clearly is mobile.

Vesti La Giubba
Pagliacci
Another great song sung by the maestro. You may remember Vesti La Giubba from the episode of Seinfeld where Crazy Joe Devola is walking around in the clown outfit beating everybody up. This is a sad song, and the passion can be felt. Another great showing of Pavarotti in character.

Nessun Dorma
Turandot
My girlfriend really likes this song. So, I had to include it, or face many loveless evenings. Anyways, the last 20 seconds or so is very cool. The Pav seems to hold the notes forever. It's definitely impressive for anybody that has ever sung anything in their life. I like to think that my morning shower musicals are great, but I've got nothing on this guy.

O Sole Mio
This is a very famous Italian song. Pavarotti sang it often, and he always seemed to do a good job. If you don't know it by the title, wait until you hear the chorus. I'm pretty sure that you'll recognize it then. I'm not really a fan of dancing, but this song makes me want to dance the night away.

It's a Man's World
Pavarotti & James Brown
Holy crap! This is what you get when you have two legends together to give the people what they want. Both singers seem thrilled to be on stage with each other, and the end result is magic. This is a good video for those that don't want to wander too far into opera. Elements of both R&B and opera truly can blend into one awesome song that most anybody can enjoy.

Bonus Video
Pavarotti and Bryan Adams
This video didn't make it onto the list, but it's still pretty fun to watch. Bryan Adams does a decent job of trying to sing a traditional Neapolitan song.

- His duet with Bryan Adams was wonderful. Pavarotti made it look so easy - that booming voice wow. The contrast between the two made a nice combination and they both looked like they were having a lot of fun! Nice job on the lens

- I'm not sure if it was Pavarotti or your casual writing style and easy sense of humor but I loved this lens! Well done! Got a thumbs up from me! ;-)
