How do Lumineers work?
Lumineers work in much the same way as traditional veneers - they are an ultra-thin (0.2mm) layer of porcelain that is bonded onto the surface of the tooth after an initial mould of the teeth has been taken. They are made from an extremely resilient porcelain called Cerinate which will cope with any food and allow you to continue with your preferred diet.
Their versatility allows them to be used to close gaps between teeth, cover over discolouration and even make teeth appear realigned. For more information visit the official Lumineers website.
Advantages over traditional veneers
Unlike the traditional veneer treatment, Lumineers are completely pain-free when they are applied as the ultra-thin porcelain requires little or no tooth preparation like the grinding used to apply the much thicker standard veneers. This also reduces the need for injections into the mouth, and makes the entire treatment non-invasive. The lack of tooth alteration also makes the process reversible, and allows the Lumineers to be removed if necessary.
Cerinate porcelain is much more durable than traditional veneers, and Lumineers can last up to 20 years with regular check-ups and cleaning at your dentist. To back this up, they are covered by a warranty which allows the Lumineers to be removed and replaced at no extra cost. For more information visit the www.cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk .
Lumineers case study

This patient was treated at the Baker Street Dental Group.
The patient was unhappy with the gaps between his teeth and the slight misalignment of several of his other teeth. Lumineers closed the teeth gaps and left him with a perfect, straight smile.
Are Lumineers for me?
Your dentist will have to discuss the level of misalignment to evaluate whether Lumineers will be able to achieve the results you desire or whether orthodontic treatment is required first.
Lumineers aren't for everyone, though, and it will ultimately come down to individual discretion. That they are not a completely natural choice to have with your teeth may put some people off. But there are many cosmetic dental treatments, one of which will surely fit your needs.
Lumineers case study 2

This case study is kindly donated by the Lumineers company.
This case study shows a patient who was suffering from serious discolouration of their teeth, as well several gaps between them. Lumineers were able to cover the yellowing teeth and close teeth gaps, leaving a bright white smile.
How much do Lumineers cost?
Cost will vary depending on individual requirement as well as how many veneers need to be placed, but the average cost for each separate Lumineer is between £400 and £600.Lumineers are able to be placed as a full tooth set at once rather than one by one, and using the Luminate in LumiTray Technology (which allows a digital preview of the veneers before application) could cost significantly more depending on requirement.
You should discuss the price of treatment with your dentist right from the beginning. Make sure you know what the cost includes - and, more importantly, what it doesn't.

Stick with what I got
Cosmetic_Dentistry_Guide says:
Personally, I'd rather stick with what I got and do what I can with them - though, thankfully, there are no problems with my teeth at the moment. Fingers crossed!
