UNESCO World Heritage Site

Lunenberg was designated a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site in 1995. This designation ensures protection for much of Lunenburg's unique architecture and civic design, being the best example of planned British colonial settlement in North America.

When all the votes were finally tallied, Glo McNeill, from Lunenburg Nova Scotia, was declared the winner of the $250,000 top prize on Food Network Canada's inaugural season of Recipes to Riches.

The final episode of the show, which offered contestants a chance to win the largest prize ever offered on a Canadian television reality program, aired December 14, 2011..

"Winning the Recipe to Riches grand prize is truly a dream come true for me and I can't thank Canadians enough for giving me their vote," Ms McNeill said. "It is an honour to have proven that seniors can truly move mountains when given the opportunity."
