Largemouth Bass Fishing in Canals
The canals of South Florida offer some of the best fresh water fishing around. Not only are there Largemouth Bass but Peacock Bass are also abundant . After leaving the B.A.S.S. tournament circuit in 1993 and moving here to S Florida in 2001, I discovered what I learned fishing lakes and rivers didn't apply to a point. The baits that work on lakes and rivers worked, but it wasn't consistent.
After some discussions with local tournament anglers I found that the lure of choice was a non- weighted watermelon green fluke. I still use spinner baits and crank baits, but the fluke is my lure of choice when fishing gets tough. Another thing I wish to point out is that I use only artificial baits. The simple reason for that is anyone can catch fish on live bait, but it takes some practice and finesse to catch fish on artificial baits.

This is my opinion, but it is shared by many others in the same situation as me.
Peacock Bass
Peacock Bass will give you a great fight and from my experiences mainly hit on crank baits. The colors and lure of choice I use are Rapala black and gold and black and silver shiner models with different depths. I also use the double jointed in these models for a different presentaion. Cameras
Don't forget to take your camera. If you don't have one I recommend Amozon they have great deals.

Florida Bass Fishing
- South Florida fishing report
- By Steve Waters, Staff Writer Lots of bass were biting spinnerbaits, swimbaits, plastic stick worms and live shiners around the outside grass lines. Bass fishing is slow with all the water being moved in the Everglades.
Fishing Equipment
I find a lot of great deals on E-Bay such as fishing line and lures by little known tackle companies.
