History of Ties
Everything you wanted to know about ties, but were afraid to ask.
The earliest ties date back at least 2000 years to the Quinn dynasty in China. Warriors wore silk cords around their necks to represent their elite status.
Roman orators to keep their necks warm wore ties or neck scarves. Neck wear that included lace, bows and a variety of other garments were in vogue off and on as a symbol of fashion, necessity or comfort well into the 19th century. Early in the 19th century, English public school neckwear was used to show the wearers' social affiliation, sport or school.
It was in the 1920's that our current designer ties, called four-in-hand became popular. The current standard for manufacturing ties was developed by a New York tie maker, J. Langdorf. He developed a method of cutting the tie on its bias allowing the tie to return to its former shape time after time. Around The same period, a Paris fashion designer, Jean Paton, began creating silk ties from women's clothing materials. These ties were targeted toward women to purchase his expensive ties. He was extremely successful and women still purchase over 80% of the ties sold.
Designer ties are also popular as women's wear either as neckwear or as an accessory belt.

Why buy a designer tie from Zazzle?
Fashionable, original, artsy, quality ties at a great price.
Zazzle makes great ties. Believe me I know, I have bought some. My own designs,of course, but I would recommend several great Zazzle artists and designers.
At first I was put of by the fact that the ties were printed only on one side, but I soon overcame this when I realized how vibrant the colors were. I get many compliments from my ties and really enjoy wearing them. I know you will too.

Care of Ties
Always untie your tie when you remove it. You should undo the tie in reverse of how you tied it. Be careful that you don't pull on the tie as this can undo the sewn fabric around the neckpiece.
Store your ties either by hanging them straight down in the closet or roll your ties (as shown above) and store in a drawer.
If you get a spot or stain on a tie you can try to remove the stain quickly by dabbing it with water or club soda. This may help keep the stain from setting into the fabric. Stains are very hard to remove from ties and dry cleaning usually produces less than satisfactory results. The best remedy is to avoid stains whenever possible and reconcile yourself to buying a new tie if you get one dirty or stained.
