Lymphoma Awareness Month Advocacy

National Lymphoma Awareness Month is commemorated each September to help raise public attention for this type of blood cancer. According to the ACS, it is estimated that there will be 65,980 new cases of Lymphoma in the United States. While other cancers have shown a decline, Lymphoma is on the rise, but with early diagnosis it is often a very treatable cancer with good prognosis.

To call attention to Lymphoma Awareness, we are promoting Lymphoma Awareness year-round. A lime green ribbon represents awareness and unity in the fight against all Lymphomas. As Lymphoma Survivors, we have been advocating Lymphoma Awareness for the past few years with our unique line of Lymphoma t-shirts and gifts through our various cancer shops: HopeDreamsDesigns.Com; CancerApparelGifts.Com; and GiftsForAwareness.Com.

Our shops are managed by Lymphoma survivors who understand awareness because as patients, warriors and survivors, we've been there. This mission is personal.

We also have a lens dedicated to Hodgkin's Lymphoma (aka Hodgkin's Disease) which supports the violet ribbon.

Why Wear a Lime Green Ribbon?

Lymphoma Awareness Matters

Lymphoma is not a well-known cancer as is Breast Cancer. In order to get Lymphoma noticed, it is important to promote and advocate it. Wearing a lime green awareness ribbon is more than wearing an ordinary color. It's a mission, a statement and awareness for an important cause that affects thousands of men, women and children. When you wear a lime green ribbon, you help put Lymphoma in the forefront and you stand up to it by advocating, supporting and fighting for a cure. Lymphoma Awareness does matter.

What is Lymphoma?

Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymph system. Lymphoma is not a single cancer but a group of many related cancers. In fact, there are nearly 30 different types of lymphoma. Broadly, they are grouped under two categories: Hodgkin Disease and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. These two broad groups may be similar in their symptoms and the tests that are required, but they behave differently when they affect a person.

So, there has been this knott in the left side of my groin that I noticed about a month ago. After a number of test and a biopsy I was informed today by my doctor that I have Lymphoma. So the whole thing is new for me, my interest in this condition has been sparked and I now begin my journey.
